As the grand number keeper for the Club Saito membership, I bestow upon thee the following:
KenD is the new member #773
Furthermore, as punishment for sandbagging us all he has to cough up one Saito of his choosing to me.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
Guys i want some feedback on running an intake velocity stack on my Saito FA-80.
I have no complaints so far from the engine and minimal fuel drops escaping from the carb while the engine operates.....
I was looking the other day my FA-150S and [/size]FA-180GK and noticed the difference.
Anyone that has tried this unit on this particular engine;

In a similar question to what Kostas1 asked, how about a velocity stack on my Saito 82 mounted inverted.. Will the velocity stack have any negative effect by 'collecting' fuel that might otherwise be ejected from the air intake?

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
For what it's worth, the 180 and 220 are the only singles that come with velocity stacks from the factory. I am not sure if the carbs/manifolds are designed to include them as opposed to the other engines that don't come with them?

The collected fuel would be compensated for by the needle and therefore become a plus.

I am no expert on this matter, but this is what I read in this forum in earlier posts from the experts:
1. A velocity stack will help with preventing fuel loss blown back out of the carb. (+)
2. A velocity stack MIGHT help increase power (+) or it MIGHT reduce it (-). One thing to check is the inner diameter of the velocity stack at its narrowest point. If that diameter is smaller than the carb venturi diameter, you are probably going to get a power LOSS (-).
That is my understanding of what I read and from theory, but not experience. So take it with a grain of salt...
In the end, you might have to test it out yourself with and without the velocity stack and determine the answer.

The only venturi that is larger than the velocity stack's ID is the 1.25 and is the only one that will experience a small loss in rpm about 200. You will also lose 200 rpm when trying to run the 1.25's valve lash at .002". Mind you, I'm talking about the velocity stack in Kosta's picture.

Saito instructions say .004", Enya instructions say .002", I take what the instructions say to be the, "supposed". Bill Robison is not Mr. Saito. The Saito engineers should know what the engine needs for longevity.
