I have read almost every page, and I have a couple of questions.<div>1..I purchased the esm f7f. About 1 year ago, is it close to the Kmp...ASM. Kits.... As far as quality and construction?</div><div>
</div><div>2..the retracts that I got from esm look sturdy and adequate for this aircraft, does any one have first hand knowledge of these retracts, again I got them about 1year ago from esm from a dealer in Fla.</div><div>
</div><div>Thank you for any input you can give me. I. Plan on diving into airplane assembly in the next few days,I have almost every thing I need to complete this project.</div>

If you can keep the model light , the stock retracts are somewhat okay. Most of the models weigh 27Lbs plus. Long term these will not hold up depending on your field and few other factors. I have Sierra's for mine and that's the best money can buy for this model, Plus Darrel at Sierra is fantastic to deal with on service. Helpful hint on your build, Go through and check all glue joints. Many of them need attention.
Cheers,
Doug

The version 3 ESM extracts are available and resolve much of the earlier issues. Best to contact Troy built to get more info. Built heavy is right and compared to other models other really is no need for all this weight.
Checking glue on an ARF is standard. Then having fun flying the heck out of it is the next step.. Enjoy.

The Fuel Tank that I used is a Sullivan SUL390 from Horizon Hobby. It fits on the bottom of the nacelle. Its 16oz. It will give you plenty of run time.

Has anyone put a full body pilot in their T-Cat? I am just finishing my 2nd all composite variant with a Dynamic Balsa cockpit. The seat is only 2.5 inches wide. I am having a hard time finding a 1/8 scale pilot to place in this ship. It just won't look right without one. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Maiden Flight a Success!
I maidened my new Cat yesterday and it was a huge success! The airplane required 0 trim and flew like it was on rails, even better than Cat #1! The OS GT22 engines proved to run very nicely, however, I will do some more experimenting with different props as she is not quite as fast as my first. I flew it with Xoar 15x8's. The RPM just isn't getting up to the level I need to achieve the power band that I am looking for. I'll try some MA 14x9's, that may just do the trick. I did get 2 successful sorties on her and everything worked as advertised! I can't wait for the next sortie!

Three more flights on the cat this past weekend. I have to say that this plane flies wonderfully well and even a smidge better than my first. THe Master Airscew 14x9 3 blades really make this airplane fly fast with authority just as this ship was intended for. The OS GT22's really sing and run like swiss watches. Very reliable with very little draw from the ignition packs. 3 nine minute flights flights only consumed 360 MAH from the 2000 MAH 5 cell packs. Much more efficient than the Zenoah 20's in the first one. I was also able to get about 15 degrees of additional travel out of the flaps allowing for a very reasonable approach speed. I pulled 8 oz of lead from the nose with no noticible change in handling qualities. She is still portly at 33 pounds dry but doesn't seem to bother it all. A great machine. Time to move T-Cat number one and find a new home for her.

Well, I haven't looked. The supllied tubes are certainly robust enough. They do weigh more, however, this airplane really doesn't care if set up right. I have certainly put mine through some very aggressive paces using a 3 piece wing setup without any issues. I have nearly 200 flights on that particular model.

CRJ, my thought was the potential to save a considerable amount of weight. The wing tubes that came with mine are an odd size and to date I have been unsuccessful locating any in carbon. I will stay on the hunt.

Warbird Fly-In at Fresno CA. Sat. 5 Oct. Great weather and a very successful event. Had over 50 War Birds from all eras. Some were Glow Engines, Gasoline and Electric. My F7F was the only TWIN there. It was a crowd pleaser. I really enjoy flying this airplane. The High Speed runs from a steep dive and hearing those twin Fuji's humming still THRILLS me. I can do most basic maneuvers large and smooth and it is really pleasing to the crowd. Many nice comments from the spectators and especially the women. Col. Chuck Winter

I have the original version of the F7F and I'd have to say I was the first to put two 170r3 is this airframe. Mine balanced perfectly. I also have the Sierra gear too which are a bit heavier than the stock.
If sounds really great.
