Not sure of the interchanging. My Como .51 has the round head and loop scavenging, my other Supertiger .51s are packed away for a while so I can't check really easily, but I think they might be schnuerle? According to the Macs chart the Como .51 is the same as the GS .51 and is bolt through. http://www.mecoa.com/acc/pipes/mac/headerside.htm

Como was made by Supertigre for a dealer known as World Engines. The company was run by John Maloney and was a big player in the hobby in the 70's and 80's. World Engines was an exclusive dealer for several years but that eventually changed.

A stock Como .40 ABC on a Mac's tuned pipe could easily exceed 20k with the right prop and was the go-to engine for Texas Quickee 500. Lots of fun!

World Engines was for many years the sole US importer of both O.S. and Super Tigre engines. That was changed in the early 1980s era when Great Planes took over that title. The Como line may have been an attempt by World Engines to have a route to continue selling Super Tigre built engines. Whatever the case, the Como line was fairly short lived. Most of whatever Comos that saw retail sales were sold by a mail order retailer named "Indy RC" in Indiana. I bought several myself!
The O.S. and Super Tigre street retail prices shot up overnight when Great Planes took over.
The Como engines were of the same high quality we came to expect from Super Tigre.

Super Tigre and Como are first rate engines in my book. Their carburetors are phenomenal. I have a Como .51 ABC NIB and numerous Super Tigres. I only collect Italian built Tigres, and most of them are ABC. I recently converted an S29 Ring to ABC with a piston/liner from an S29K. Only modification needed was to reduce the OD of the lip on the top of the liner to clear the head. I also have an S25 ABC that oddly enough is plated inside the bore and on the outside of the liner too. AFAIK it’s the only Tigre to be plated on the outside AND the lip/flange of the liner has the head boots passing through the flange.

I might be interested in an .11 or .15 if it’s ABC. My Norvel 1/2a trainer needs an .11 or equivalent size engine to fly well, and my 10FP doesn’t cut the mustard.

PM if interested.

Thanks! Actually I am looking for the 23cc G20/23. Supertigre model numbers can be confusing. But thanks anyway!

Agreed! The S29, S45 and Como .40 look real nice. If I didn’t already have what I’d have, I’d make an offer on those 3.

I have this seemingly rare Super Tigre rear induction 40 but with Side exhaust and provisions for a bolt on muffler. The exhaust bolts holes are 32 mm apart instead of the normal 34 mm, I used my lathe to cut down the big filet and then slid the rear bolt hole forward about 2 mm. It has super compression, rather high too. Anybody have any knowledge about it. Thanks, Dave

Hello everyone. I am searching (with no luck) for a Super Tigre G90 Quiet Muffler . . . recently acquired a very low time Made in Italy G90 with a Bisson Pits Style muffler. The previous owner could not find the original muffler. I am puttin this on a scratch built 74" Ugly Stick. Thanks

If you can find a Macs header you can make a mousse-can muffler for it. Supertigers respond well to this type of muffler. If you live near Eldon, McDDD can help you.

Default Older 45

Just got this little beauty. What's the prop range for it? And a good plug choice?

Thanks in advance!

For a .45 I would go 9X6 or 10X6.
