infernox well said.
What happens when you run your motor in water is that the Brushs go or wear round to the com.,totally gives the best efficiency of all.
Now if not run in that way (fast run out )[not realy] but over time ) best water run in BE CAREFUL.
Brushed motors are Great.
Long live MM

not too difficult. 2 main things are the diff and shocks. for drifting you need it locked or semilocked. rallying on a locked diff probably isn't too bad.
the other thing is swapping out the shocks for drifiting and rally. you will need longer shocks for rallying to get the extra clearance

the tb-02 is a better kit since it comes with upgrades already like ball diff. shocks. BBs. adjustable arms. etc. in essence its sort of a pre-upgraded tt-01.

Why isn't my TT-01 fast??!

I have a 12T ESC and a 12T Reedy Flash motor... stock spur gear and a 21T Pinion gear, and a Venom 3000mah pack.

I also have the aluminum drive shaft, full ball bearings and some fairly sticky tires (HPI Vintage wheels/tires to go with my HPI Cuda body)

The thing moves pretty good but its definitely not mind blowing. Is there something wrong? What would be a better gear ratio to try out?

I think this motor should be capable of some pretty riduclous top speeds, right? How much speed should I expect?

Thanks for any suggestions!!

The TT01 is not really made for fast driving. The chassis is a little bit to heavy. When you want to go faster then the standard TT01 you have also to use Bal bearings and an alu cardan as. And some parts for weight saving.

When you want to more Speed you can better bye an TT05R or an TRF415 . These chassis are more made for circuits

car wasn't made to use those kinds of motors. This chassis is more a beginners car or for they're spec type racing. if you want fast, your going to have to put a brushless in it.

here are some suggestions:
1. check the drive train for binding and smoothness
2. new batteries- those venom 3000s aren't very good for such a low turn motor.
3. try putting the stock pinion back on. with a 12t motor might be little overgeared and trying to draw more amps than your battery can supply
4. new car <- my favorite choice

change the spur/pinion combo if u want more speed (top end) but you will lose some pullaway power.
i went from standard 19/61 gearing to 28/55 combo and the top speed is so much better but running on that 12t its gonna get HOT maybe try a 15t or use a fan on the esc/motor.
And yes the tt-01 suffers at high speed it gets hard to keep straight but thats the fun right?lol

yeah what kinds of speeds are you hitting. since your prospective of fast could be different from ours.

IB and GP make good batteries. the ib4200 now is a great battery for a reasonable price.

before you go for speed
get an alloy driveshaft and bearings
if you dont...
driveshaft will wobble hard at those rotating speeds cause damage to your chassis then snap
if it dossnt snap
those plastic bushings will melt

Hay Im buying a standard TT01 in a couple of weeks and ive thought alot about it...

If i put a aluminion shaft
ball bearings
19 turn motor
ESC that can handle 15 turns

Would that run ok without killing itself?

or would i need some of those overly complicated pinion gear or spur gear upgrades?

thanks alot.
