Hay Im buying a standard TT01 in a couple of weeks and ive thought alot about it...

If i put a aluminion shaft
ball bearings
19 turn motor
ESC that can handle 15 turns

Would that run ok without killing itself?

or would i need some of those overly complicated pinion gear or spur gear upgrades?

thanks alot.
no mate that would run sweet, but you could always grab some pinion/spur sizes if you want to change your gearing about ie more top end or more pullaway
might be worth investing in a ali motor mount incase the motor heats up on long runs k[sm=thumbup.gif]

6900 would be good on 6-cells.

ORIGINAL: hunter399

I am planning to invest in many aluminum parts

But which motor? the 4600 5700 6900 or 7700 mamba?

Thanks

good setup. I do recommend getting the spurs and pinions as the stock gearing might leave you wanting more. i used to have a 19t in mine running 24/58 gearing. fast and good acceleration.

gearing in the tt-01 might be a little problematic with the 7700. Thats why i said the 6900. 5700 does have more battery options but the tt-01 can't take that many battery options.

Why not go with the 7700? I run a Hack C40 6T in my TT-01. About to switch it out for my 5T motor which is a lot higher kv. My TT-01 runs fine with these insainly fast motors. So trying to figure why you think it might be problematic?

i was thinking in terms of gearing and reliability with stock parts. i have mamba in mind too with the stock out shafts and diff, etc. only ran it maybe 3 or 4 times and they already have noticeable wear on them.

with upgraded parts it should handle it fairly well. I was just thinking in general terms since most people in here are fairly stock cars . I've said it before, brushless in these cars seem to be a hit or miss. i hear alot success and horror stories on them. I guess mine just isn't liking my need for speed.

gears need cleaning badly. theres crud inside the teeth of the spur gear and its chewing you pinion(looks like sand or dirt) its happend to be before when i first tried to rally my tt-01.

also the pinion isn't centered on the spur which is why theres still a little bit of the pinion left.

Makes more sense. Mine is all stock except ball bearings and the shocks are off my TC3. The shaft definately binds, but the gears I have not had any wear yet, but when I accelerate to fast you definately hear it. I am sure with time they will.

In my wish list on tower, I have the aloy shaft listed and was looking at metal gears for the diff off EBay.

well not just aluminum. upgrades in the drivetrain. . bearings and the aluminum prop shaft are a must. ball diff and cvds or universals are optional upgrades. these will help with the handling and more efficient power delivery to the wheels.

can't say it will work for sure and without breaking. you can try it and tell us, if it doesn't work out then its a good reason to get a new faster car. hehe

me and 2 of my friends might buy some tt-01's for the fun of it. where can you buy bodies. i want a tuner body, like a Skyline, S2000, and 1 of my firends does too, and my other one wants either a BMW, or a Lambo. i'm gunna go to my lhs sometime and see how much tt-01's are there, cuz i dont really remember. all i know is that the parts arent worth buying there, cuz there quite expensive, but cars are cheap.
