RE: Airworld Mig21 Ready to fly
Hi Vincent,
Gear doors are fitted. it was a bit of a job to fit them, and make them work with the center line tank as they were not opening enough to let the main gear come in. Also a section had to be incorporated to cover the oleo knuckle arm.
I had a guy called Paul Metcalf work out a really clever door system all operated off the single door servo that works great.
Hey Todd. Good to see you too. I will get round to placing that order with you soon, and talking some more business. Thanks guys for the comments on the Mig. I have passed them all to ray the painter, and he is really happy.
Regards Al

I saw this plane at FL Jets and really like it, but have some concerns about the flight characteristics given the small wing. I am really interested to hear your impressions of it's flight behaviors. Good luck with it.

Hi Keith:
John Christensen posted a very nice video on his new website-------http://www.airworld-usa.com
Seems to fly and land very much like my SpiderJet 16 as well as other 16's, once you plug the right AOA on final.....
Missed you at FJ....had to leave early Friday morning......

RE: Airworld Mig21 Ready to fly
Ian, In answer to your question... Never enough.
The flight performance of this plane is deceptive. I too thought it may be a handful with that small wing. In fact it's landing and takeoff performance is much like a F-15 or similar model. I have had only one flight with the mig (unpainted) and it was very tail heavy. It got into a bad sate on landing where it was pitching up and down and just before touch down it pitched up very high alpha where I thought it must fall out the sky. Instead it just sank a little and sat nice on the mains. When I saw the Airworld demo model fly in Germany it came in so high alpha that it was dragging the back of the model along the runway before touchdown, no problems at all.
This weekend looks like a no go weather wise so it looks like it might have to wait till next week for flight video or report.
There is a video of it's first flight (unpainted) around somewhere but it was so windy and the model so tail heavy that the video does not do it justice. If anyone wants it I will try and find it.
As for gear doors. For more pictures or info on this please email me on [email protected] or [email protected]

while I was on the site, I got fascinated by the turbo raven. I have to give that some consideration.
I got to FJ late Friday morning, which is why we missed. I am thinking about Superman, so maybe I'll catch you there.

RE: Airworld Mig21 Ready to fly
It looks great in that scheme Ali.
I have made a RAT to cover the microphone on the camera so it cuts most of the wind out even if it is blowing a gale.
Are you likely to be flying this one at Bury if so I will see if I can get a better video done there.
All the best
Jeff

Hi Keith,
The Turbo Raven is also great I think we have some video of one of those as well... hey Jeff?
Good news about the Rat (nice name)
Not sure about Bury right now as it is the weekend before Top Gun and I might try to go and get some practice in before hand
