Default Might be getting a crawler, how's this look?

How's this look for a good crawler set-up? This would be my first crawler,
but i dont want to have to go buy better electronics or a better chassis
when i get better.
Oh, and i would use 011L5 coupon code to save 30 dollars, unless
anyone knows of another code where i could save more.

I thing you could save $ 4.79 by not buying the leads. The Rooster comes with enough legnth to reach the motor.

I thought the motor didn't come with them, it said to get them on Tower's description. And I didn't want to solder the roosters wires directly to the motor.

The motor does not come with them,The rooster already has them. You will have to solder them, or if you but the leads you will have to solder them to the ESC anyhow.....

I would suggest a Stronger servo.. Along with a 3 channel receiver if your radio can.. Incase you ever want a Dig unit ETC..

what servo do you recommend? i dont want to spend too much, thats why i had the 2ch rx. my radio right now it a traxxas tq2 and if i get this crawler, it would be used for 3 different RC's, so i want to upgrade to a 2.4ghz 3ch. so i think the 2ch am will be ok for now, and i probably wont be getting a dig anytime soon. just some fn crawling/bashing. maybe i will convert to 4ws.

i could jst use an old XL-5 esc and then get 4ws, or has 2ws and the rooster crawler esc. which do you think is more important?

I think I will leave out the rooster for now and see how an XL-5 works. Then I only have to spend $290. And then 25 for bent links, 90 for the rooster, 35 for another servo and however much 4ws kit costs, about 10 for different gears, some softer springs, maybe better shocks, a ferrari... But it's best not to mention that part.

Ditch the no solder leads and replace them with some wire and bullet plugs.

Switch the motor for a 55 turn.

Battery?

I would ditch the traxxas connectors and replace everything with deans.

all my stuff already has Traxxas connectors, and i heard there just as good. battery, 7 cell NiMh or 6 cell NiCd until I upgrade. and why a 55t motor? and cant i just solder on the no-solder leads.

A 55t is going to have more torque which is very important to crawling. I would go with deans because more people have them. If you ever need a battery at a club meat or something, its going to easier to find someone with a battery with a deans connector than it will be to find someone with a traxxas connector.

NY DIRT - Thanks! That will help out a lot.

Forrest225 - I'm not quite sure I understand about the motor. I was aware that higher amount of turns means more torque. And I'm not too worried about the connectors. There's not really anywhere around where I live that has rock crawling, or for that matter, anything much do to with RC. And I probably wouldn't be going anywhere like that, and if I do, I can just use a dean to Traxxas connector.

The Traxxas will work fine then, But I still think you should get a 55t motor. Torque is extremely important. You cant crawl if your rig doesn't have the power to make it up.

a 85t motor has more torque then a 55t motor, you're talking about wheel speed

The 85 turn motor he has listed actually has more torque than a 55 turn but it is very slow unless you are using a higher voltage like 3s lipo. A 55 turn is a good starting point for 6/7 cells.

You could solder the no solder leads but actual bullet connectors and nice 12 guage wire is the same price and higher quality. I've used those no solder leads on a 1/18th car with bad results. I wouldn't even consider using them on a 1/10th. I use bullet connectors for all my motor/ESC connections. They are easy to reverse, can handle high current, and can fit through any shock tower hole that a wire can.

If all your stuff already has Traxxas connectors dont bother switching to Deans. The difference is negligible.

If you dont have scrap wiring laying around, this stuff is top notch:

Sometimes when crawling you need a little wheel speed to get over something and the 55 turn is a nice ballance of torque and wheel speed for crawling. Ive got the rooster crawler and a 55 turn, I dont do any kind of comps and there isnt anyone else around here with crawlers to run with but you cant go wrong with a 55 turn if your going with a basic brushed system.

No problem......UPS lost misplaced my order after I paid $40.00 for overnight shipping,so I had the $60.00 off and then Tower gave me a full credit for the $40.00 shipping.....So I bought the Axial ARTR Orange vwersion and got $100.00 off total......If you want to email me [email protected] I will email you that Tower email with the discounts....I broke up my orders in two,so I got 2 hefty discounts.

maybe i will try and break up the order if my dad gets one. if not then it doesnt make a difference. i have $60 off $300 and right now its $308 so with shipping and coupon, its about $253, just under the price of the rtr.
