Default Realflight G3 Problems

I have the G3 but when I installed it I found it to be jerky.. the plane flys then stops then starts again. So.. I spent $2000 on a top end gaming machine last week, best of everything with 2 gig of ram.. guess what.. same thing. I did the updates on the G3 and even set the qualities to mid range with no change. Some one mentioned to me that other have had this problem. Any ideas what I need to do to solve the problem. I have the puter in for check out just incase but since it did this on both puters I suspect the software. Any help is appreciated. PS... How do you change the flying to me more of a challange. Right now I can land like a brick with no damage. I have the G2 software and it was easy to set it to experience flying.

Regards,
Randy

Does it do this all the time or only for the first 30 seconds or so?

well, IMO 2,000 isnt very expensive these days, anything under that price is too basic!

You find frames per second by pressing 1 on your keyboard.

I dont think the point is how much I spent on the puter or the card, the card is rated much higher then the game requirements and is being used on some very complex games with success. Since the the computer is the most current technology I don't believe I have problems there. I just spoke with the tech working on the machine and he cannot find anything.. but something is wrong. Empire earth II is running badly too, but it ran bad on my older puter too so I assumed I needed an upgrade. I told them to install what ever priced card they have it solves the problem but he assures me the card is not the problem. The LHS I purchased from said that some of their customers had the same problem that was corrected with settings but they cannot remember who the customer was that told them this. Does anyone have the phone # for the support people of Realflight .. I will call them and see what they have to say.

Best regards,
Randy

You did say in your 1st post "best of everyrthing" for your new PC. A $125.00 6600 card is not the "best". Sounds to me like something is wrong w/your PC, why not let someone else test it?

Sorry if I miss led you, I have more than adequate of everything to run the software is better put. I have the system back at the tech's shop checking it all out. I called the product support and they said my equipment if much better than I need to run the program. They are emailing me a package so their techs can try to resolve the problem. It acts like something is running in the background but I have turned off all the software and there is nothing else running when I alt tab delete. The on line play is terrible, it hangs more than it plays. Oh well, its only money.. lol

what drivers did you install? if you installed the ones on disk that came with it go out to web site download latest. may not work but its something to try. also depending on the vid card type ie PCI express or AGP you might need to install drivers for those that will update somethings. they are just two things to try its worth a shot anyhow.

also what is helpfull if it happens to be vid card too slow is to run objects off like rocks trees and buildings. lowering texture quality is good too if you want better handling.

the 6 series including the 6600 will handle doom 3 so its hardly the vid card. though i think right now the best card they have is the 6800 ultra and 6800 gt wow i would love to have one of those but i am too cheap to spend the 400 dollars. i have built pretty fast systems for under 2000. now all i need is for knife edge to build a G3 linux binary

Actually the "NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GTX" is the best card currently.

Well so far the tech is baffled. Drivers all up to date, Everything checks out but I told them to start trying different hardware. They are running a video test on the card now.. it takes an hour or so so won't get any answers today. Empire earth (game) which worked great on the other computer is acting up on this one and empire earth II doing the same thing.. jerky.. laggy. The tech could see it clearly when we moved the mouse that the curser lagged. He tried different mice too, lol... I told them I bought the puter on their recommendation that it would run what ever I threw at it.. so figure it out.. lol

What the heck are you doing with your computer? IMO spending over $2000. on a system to play games is nuts (relatively speaking of course) and if you build it yourself that amount should get you a heck of a system. Buying the latest equipment doesn't make sense to me because of the diminishing return on dollars v.s. performance when the stuff drops in price significantly in the first year of sales.

I have no clue how much a good system cost, but i do know that a good graphics card can be around 5 or 600 bucks. And the cheapest computer system i can find is around 800, so i just figured top of the line would be like 2 or 3,000 bucks.

I built my system a few months ago and it cost me about $2400 with monitor and it is (was) top of the line at that moment in time. As we all know, that moment is all too short.

Here is what I have and it runs G3 great in full realistic mode.

Athlon 64 F/X, 1Gb ram, ATI Radeon 9800XT 256, Creative Labs Audigy 2ZS, Asus SK8V mobo, Lian Li Aluminum Tower Case, 400 watt power supply, ViewSonic PF790 monitor, dual 120 mb hard drives, Sony DVD player, keyboard, and mouse. And all of this for $2400 and it took me an afternoon to put it together. Buying these so-called "gaming" machines pre-built are not always the best bang for the buck.

As for your problem, it sounds like a video card to me. Just because it meets the MINIMUM requirements doesn't mean it is the best for the features of the program. If you are going to buy a new computer, never buy what you need because tomorrow a new piece of software will come out that will test it to the limits. Shop around before you buy and buy the best you can possibly afford. It will pay off in the long run.

I told them that I wanted a very good game card in the machine. Money was not an issue. They insisted that anything beyond the Nividea 6600 would be wasted on my needs. I have it in now for them to figure it out with the same instructions. They continue to tell me that changing the video card will not help but I told them to try it anyways. I bought the monitor last year and it was cutting edge so I know it can handle the video. In anycase I see no more need to continue this thread unless some one has had the same problem and cured it somehow. I will leave the speculation to the techs, lol...
Thanks for all the help,
Randy
