Default Crash Stories

Post ur best crash stories in here (i wanna hear some cuz ive got a few to tell on my own )
Anyways
Me and my buddy built a small jump in the backyard, and we got this idea to pile some rocks up and make a "climbing" hill for my sportmaxx. So we piled a whole bunch of rocks up until the pile was about 3 ft high and 5 ft long. We made a ramp of rocks up to the top. We drove my truck up it the first time, it fell off the side and knocked my fueltank loose. So we tightened that back up and took it out again. We hit it a little faster this time, snapped an RPM upper a-arm, and kept goin up the hill. We made it to the top, then my friend decided to pin it right at the biggest rock in the pile. The truck didnt move, and he stripped the spur gear. 2 broken parts. We replaced the spur gear and went back out to the pile. We tried again, this time a wheel fell off, the little steering thingy snapped right in half (not sure what its called) so now my truck sits broken. What a mess, and all in one day. RPM is gonna send me a set of front AND rear a-arms if my break is legit. I guess we will see. Anyways, if youve got some good bashing stories, post em!

my RS4 tossed the battery pack in a turn on a parkinglot. Took off across the parking lot at WOT, hit second gear, topped out at about 50 mph before it the curb of a meadian and went skyward. It got about 6' of vertical air and landed on its roof. No damage to speek of except a beat to hell body.

OH you wanted Tmaxx stories,

My Tmaxx batery pack was week and the truck took off down the alley at WOT. Made a b-line for a telephone pole. Kinda sicking feeling knowing there is nothing you can do but watch your truck smash into it at 40mph!

many more as you can imiage.

on saturday i was at some sand dunes near my house and there is one realy big hill at one section, about 20 ft of the ground, any way i was on one side of the hill and drove my t maxx right up it at about 20mph little did I know that there was a ledge on the other side! IT FLEW!!! i didnt see the jump but my dad said it got about 10 verticle feat and 20 horizontal feat of air!! luckily it landed straight (some how) and i only broke a shock cap and a turnbuckle, I couldnt beleave i missed it, so i did it again, LOL, just at half the speed and landed it upside down, nothing broke exept the body had ripped out of the clips and split in half!

Yesterday, a friend and i (shortymet55) went bashing in my yard with ramps and such.

2 rustlers

About 5 minutes into it i broke my rear shock tower. So then i put on a new one and about 7 more minutes of riding, i brake it again doing double front flips.

We stopped using mine, which now has aluminum shock tower and used his.

Hit jump and the bearing carrier was just totally shattered..what a fun 20 minutes!

While breaking in my Revos... I finished the break-in on my wife's ... so, she was playing... and I was finishing the last tank of break-in, which is full-throttle for 5 seconds... which got it to second gear by about 4 seconds or so... I wasn't paying attention... and at about 4.5 seconds, I slammed full-throttle into my wife's Revo... the only thing that happened was the bumpers got scratched...

My friend and I built a ramp, and since I had never jumped my Revo before... I was a bit hesitant to hit it hard... so I started at a low-throttle jump... and slowly got to a full-throttle jump.... by the end, I was full-throttle... hitting second gear by the ramp... I hit it and landed PERFECTLY on all-4's. I brought it back to me, and noticed the rear-end sagging... I had broken the shock rod.

I fixed the shock rod... and started ramping it again.... starting to learn to flip it... not sure how I did it, but I ended up cracking and breaking the upper and lower A-arms... which I think it was from a good cartwheel .... anyways, I just kept going... and flipping it. Soon, I'll have videos.

Default RE: Crash Stories

ok well mine isn't T-Maxx but its a crash no less

so i had this smartech car

and i was makin a b-line down this little curve in my neighborhood... all of the sudden it gets stuck on FULL THROTTLE... this b***h is doin 60 and i have to swerve to miss 3 sewers and i had to crash it into the curb just to get it to stop. So car goes flying into air... muffler comes off... lands in dudes grass and starts to burn his grass because the engine is still on full... so now im running fifty yards trying to get to my car before it starts a fire. Anyways i get there and shut it off and run home before the home-owner cam outside to see his new grass.

You want a Maxx crash story?

got one of those too

i was doin some drivin in my cul-d-sak. My buddy decided to flip on his remote control to his DuraTrax. Guess what. SAME FREQUENCY. My truck takes off and slams into the curb (but the curb was only and inch and a half tall) so the truck does two front flips and a cart wheel. Slams into a wheel barrow... and lands on its topside. I haul a** to it and shut it off to see lots of scratchs on my BRAND NEW (like not even a week old) T-Maxx. I was pissed.

Default RE: Crash Stories

Well today was my actual first Bashing of my T-Maxx after breakin. Went up to the local Middle School and fired it up. Ran it for about 5 minutes on flat ground to make sure it was ok. Then decided to take it over the hills. Well first attempt went great, brought it up the hill and said ok FULL THROTTLE. Did that and it bounced half way down the hill and then started doing cartwheels. Well as it was cartwheeling I kept thinking to myself there goes the Arms, there goes the Shock Towers, there goes this and there goes that, well after it did about 8-10 cartwheels down the hill and came to a rest on its roof I went down to see the damage. Picked it up and took it to the car as I figured it would be time to go because of damage. Took off the body and the only thing that broke was the Antennna mast in 3 places and the Zip tie I had on the fuel tank lid. Shew, I thought glad that was not as bad as I thought it would be. Well decided to run the fuel out and call it a day as my luck would not continue.

I was driving my rustler around, and there is not many jumps or much around so I just find random stuff. Well I decided to try and clear a set of 6 stairs off my porch. (about a 4 1/2 foot drop) At the bottom is cement. Well I take it out across the porch WOT, clear the steps....start to nose dive, WHAM! its a sickening sound to hear plastic hitting cement like that. SOMEHOW the only thing I broke, was the front bumper. The way it hit man....I thought I broke some steering and a-arms and stuff...i got lucky. Hmm what else? I was driving my nitro rs4 and something happened with the batteries and it hit a fence at about 20mph, but it was in dirt spinning the tires WOT. Yea, that killed the motor. [:'(][:@] Tried to hit full speed in reverse with my t-maxx before going down the street. Its a lot harder to steer in reverse...I'll leave it at that. (Although with the cartwheels it did, it could have won a gymnist competition!)

I was out running the new OS motor WOT and hit a basketball in the neighbors yard at about 40+ MPH!!!! Looked like I was gonna clear it from my perspective (200 feet away). grrrrr..... Upper A-Arm snapped at the pin.

The "kinda" cool thing was the basketball crossed the street and went about 50 feet! LOL... ah well. Good news is replacement parts are in the tool box. Bad news is I spent about 2 hours today changing the shock oil, resetting the suspension. and checking over ever nut and bolt on the whole truck. I come in after maybe 15 minutes outside holding the truck in my hand, like a broken bird, and the girlfriend was like, "Didn't you just spend 2 hours on that?"

Me, "SHUT UP!!! Don't say a word"

--

When I first my truck I was jumping it on a homemade ramp at a buddies house. Kept going faster, and faster, higher and higher, would bring it around give her a "once over" nothing broke. So I say to myself, "this will really impress them"

I line it up it is rolling
I hit second gear about 10 feet from the ramp
It is WAY up there and the longest jump of the day... by far
It comes down all twisted, NOSE UP, on it right rear tire
Smashed end over end a few times
"Luckily" it lands on it's feet but I see it dragging its butt. It limps back to me.

Damage:
- shock tower destroyed
- both bulkheads cracked
- Upper/lower A-arms on the right rear cracked or broken
- pins twisted
- bolts missing/sheared

I found this 3 foot dirt hill in front of my house and decided to try back flips on it.... the way the ramp is angled it shot the revo up like 7 feet up and landed straight down on it lid. The frame bent spur gear stripped and the carb cracked... still down... its been two weeks now

However, before it died, I did manage to land a Barrel Role

Ok the best crash I have ever seen... its not a max so you will just have to deal with it....

This guy at a LHS in El Paso about 10 years ago. He is driveing a 2 speed on road car. (one of the first cars to get 2 speed)
Were running a banked oval and speeds are insane with these little cars. He had geared it up for some major top speed.
He was in the back turn when his car just lifted up in the air. He had not hit anything just the high speed and just entering the corner got him airborn.
His car flew up about 3 feet and slamed into the wall of the hobby shop bounced off it and slamed into a metal building. A loud clank was heard when he hit the building.

His car stuck at WOT ran down the walk way and into a pile of rocks.

His car was totaly trashed. He broke or bent almost everything in the car. Someone had it on video but I dont know where that is now.

We all felt sorry for the guy and helped him get his car back in order.
I was working for the hobby shop at the time and gave him a new reciever and the servo that he had broke. Some of the other guys helped with a few other parts.

back again with another crash story

ok so i was tryin to modify my stock tires

long story short it ... didn't work

so off to the hobby shop to drop $100 on a new set

so i get em home and i put em on and start tearin up the street

i run like three tanks of gas through at nearly full throttle

so anyways... im toodlin around and then i gun it to go off this makeshift ramp i made

i land off the ramp just fine and pull back out into the street to go again

this is where the weirdest s**t happened

my truck takes off and like guns itself into the neighbors driveway
(now for those of you who thought that little inch and a half of cement at the end of the driveway couldn't not make your truck get air... you are so severly wrong)

my truck slams into the driveway and does like three flips

lands on the lid and skids ten feet at which point it gets stuck under the neighbors basketball goal (they had leaned it down onto the ground and now my truck was pinned under the pole)

so the engine is still goin goin goin

the tires (made of soft rubber compound) have expanded to about nine inches across by the time i get there because they are spinning so fast

so i shut it off and get it out

take off the top to surprisingly see no damage

SO SO glad i ran it with the body on that time

Today I took my T out for alittle bashing and came home early. Was running it on asphalt and had it 1/2 throttle as I was getting ready to hit the grass, about a second after it went into the grass I saw a part flying in the air and the truck coasted to a stop. Well went to see what the part was and it was the half shaft from the tranny. So I picked the truck over and looked. The Tranny Output yoke broke. Man what a bummer, I thought so I came home called the local (1.25 hours round trip) Hobby Shop up to see if they had the part and they did so time to get her fixed up and ready for some more bashing tomorrow.

Myself and a buddy of mine always give each other a hard time on the track. He has a T-maxx with at least $6-700 dollars in it and I have my E-maxx (mods below). Well on this tight track you stay in 1st gear 90% of the time and get one chance to shift into 2nd when you come around to the straight away. In the dead middle of the straight away is a tabletop jump. I came around the last turn ahead of him (believe it) shifted to 2nd and pinned it. Well I heard his tranny go into 2nd and he really started to gain some ground on me. Knowing he would try to knock me off the track right before the tabletop jump (recent experiences) the lightbulb came on in my head. Sure enough right as he pulled along side of me he let off the throttle and I could see what he was gunna do. So right before we got airborne he jerked over towards me anticipating knocking me off the track with his all aluminum hunk of metal. I tapped the trigger backwards and he hit the tabletop jump at 3/4 throttle an took flight in a diagonal motion. He went flying through the air into the driver's stand at about 20-25mph. CRASH!!!! WOW WAS HE POE'D!!! Everyone (except him) could not stop laughing.

Default RE: Crash Stories

NICE! lol ive got another story, seems like im beating the heck out of my trucks every day now..

Ok, so ive got my all stock revo that i LOVE to bash. The thing is practically indestructable, and this story should prove it.

We have a playhouse for my little sister in the backyard. Behind the playhouse (about 5 or 6 feet) is the fence, and then an acre for us to mess around with. So me and my buddy get this crazy idea to jump the playhouse and the fence, into the backyard. We took a couple of my skate ramps and the first two werent steep enough (at least we thought they werent). We got the third one out, and it seemed perfect. So, the first jump i went at the ramp at about 1/2 throttle to pick up some speed, then about 3/4 off the jump. The revo sailed over the front of the playhouse, and into the fence behind it. On the second jump, i went at 3/4 all the way off the jump. The revo just about made it over the fence, but it clipped the top of the fence with the back tires. I couldnt believe how many times it flipped. I picked it up, expecting something to be broken, but everything was fine. So i went for the last jump.. i went 3/4 up to the jump and then WOT off of it...
Well the revo made it just fine, lets say it like that. It landed about 4 or 5 feet behind the fence, and bounced a good 2 feet in the air.
Then it fell into the four foot trench we have dug for power to the new shop....
Ended up breaking a stock rim, and a stock skidplate. (both happened when the revo fell into the trench)

Then my buddy tried it with his LST, snapped a big bore shock right in two on the second attempt. overall, a fun day of bashing.

i havn't really had my maxx long enough to have a great story but here goes. my yard is really flat so i made a little jump with a few 4 by4s and a piece of t111 siding (basically really cheap plywood) anyway so i'm hitting the jump at about half speed catching so good air trying to get the feel of it. then its time for a full speed launch..........it started to flip over backwards so i jammed on the brake...............to hard............hit right on the front jumped and started to to cart wheel.................i don't know how many it did, but it cartwheel a good twenty feet and turn right of my car............my real car........still cartwheeling hit the side of my car and bounced off....................i figured it would have something broken. but wheni ran over and checked, it was all in one piece. the only dammage was a small scratch on my civic................needless to say i moved the jump so that if it happed again i would chance tearingng up my maxx by running it into my car again....................................peace[sm=RAINFRO.gif]

oh yeah i got another one.......not maxx but still funny.....................a long long long time ago..............i was maybe 12 or 13............had a bolink pan car (for carpet oval), this car was crazy fast................hit a curb at wot.................the car exploded......litterally............... i couldn't even carry all the parts in one trip............i never even tried to put it back together................pulled the radio gear and trashed the car.

well i have a maxx crash story now. sunday my wife and i went to her parents house for a family dinner, so i thought i would take my truck and show off a little. they live in the boonies nad have a big yard so i was having a blast, plus i had a big audience (my wifes whole family). i managed to get though about three tanks when a tried to do a high speed pass down the hill parallel to the fence. needless to say i got to close to the fence and clipped one of the posts with the left rear wheel at about 30 mph or so.[:@] the crash didn't look that violant so i ran over to flip it up right. when i hit the gass all i had was front wheel drive. [sm=confused.gif] so i killed the engine and pulled the body. heres a list of broken parts that i've found so far. rear bulkhead, rear skid plate, upper and lowre arms on left side, and the rear center drive shaft. i havn't taken it apart yet so i don't know if anything else is broken. oh well shat happens. i plan to replace most of the parts with aluminum, so it will prob be a few weeks untill i can come up with the doe ray me. guess i'll just have to wait. anyway thats my first "BROKE MY TRUCK" story. i'm sure there will be many more in the future....................peace[sm=RAINFRO.gif]

My neighbor and I decided to take our toys outside and play. We were tearing up the street, well he was as he has the 10GT I think is what it is and I had my T-Maxx. Well first go around was pretty cool. I refueled mine up and let it cool down and then fired her up again for another run. Was bringing it down the street fast and furious when all the sudden I heard a crack and looked around my neighbor as he was right beside and I noticed a bicycle laying on its side and the front end of my truck had bottomed out. Man fortunatley for me all I suffered was the front shock tower and 2 broken shocks. Here is the pic.
