All I know is what one of my LHS told me. It is based off the Wheely King just different shock setup and a few minor things I don't remember. Wish I could be more help, but hey it's more info then you had gotten previously. LOL

This is the one I use and it's good for all batteries even lipos. Also very appealing price. Haven't had any problems with it at all. Have not charged Lipos on it though.

RE: HPI Crawler King
I bought one and sold it a week later at a big loss. It's a nice looking truck but it's not much of a crawler. The steering on it is just horrible, they put a standard servo on it and it doesn't have nearly enough torque to steer it. For instance in my living room on the floor the truck would have to move a few feet before the servo managed to turn the wheels from lock to lock. Steering while on the rocks is just impossible. The motor on it is a 55t but it didn't seem to have that much torque, it was pretty easy to stall it out and the ESC got really hot (enough to smell it) just driving it around in my living room. I had a spare HPI 27t WK motor and put that in it and it seemed to have the same torque as the stock motor but was a lot faster. Also the center of gravity on the truck is really high so it rolls over a lot and on a moderate incline it will flip over backwards.
I really really wanted to like this truck because I love the way it looks but I just didn't like its performance. I owned a stock AX10 kit before this and there was just no comparison. Even the Losi MRC I own now will crawl over things the Crawler King couldn't.

RE: HPI Crawler King
thanks a lot for your post. it was very informative, bit I would like to let you know/ ask you a few things.
1. I am not at all a serious crawler and planned to use it playing around in construction sites and random stuff like that.
2. How wet did you get it? and did it cause any problmes?
3. what would be a good replacement servo?could you link me to one on a-main?
4. Did you ever break anything on it?

I didn't get it wet at all as it's not water resistant. Any good high torque servo would be a big improvement over stock, I'm not sure which one would be best. No I never broke anything on it I only ran it outside once and couldn't stand it so I sold it.

RE: HPI Crawler King
It could be a decent truck with a servo upgrade, as long as your not expecting more from it than what it is. I think me owning an AX10 before it made it worse for me. After having an AX10 and seeing what it could do and going to this is was a big let down. You may be happy with it though. If you're wanting a scale looking trail truck, have you thought about an SCX10?

RE: HPI Crawler King
yes i've seen that before but thats a little out of my range right now. I think i'm gonna go for this truck but order a good servo. Do you mind linking me to one you would suggest off of a-main? ALso how were your battery runtimes and what batteries were you using.
once again thanks a ton'

[link=http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_info.php/products_id/4781/n/Hitec-HS-645MG-High-Torque-Metal-Gear-Servo-S-JR-Z]This[/link] is a popular servo that will work well. I never timed it as I never ran it through a full charge, I was using a 2400mAh 6-cell NiCd and I also tried a 3600mAh 7-cell NiMh.
Also the Crawler King is $20 cheaper at towerhobbies with their [link=http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wto0450p?FVGCNUM=011YE]$30 off coupon[/link] than it is at Amain.

RE: HPI Crawler King
The crawler king is just a wheely king with a chassis flip and HPI's crawler upgrade kit (plus nice beadlocks and tires) The one upgrade it NEEDS is to move the servo to the axle. Its really easy to do, in fact all you need is a drill and tin snips (thats how I made mine for my wheely king crawler) I had a wheely king that I turned into a crawler. I have never seen an ax10 run, so i had nothing to compare it to, but to me, it was simply amazing what the truck could do! I think you would NOT be sorry if you bought it....

RE: HPI Crawler King
Well, with mine I used a 3600mah 6 cell venom pack. I know some people say venom is crap, but it works fine. I got easily 1/2 hour of runtime with lots left in it. More Mah is better, but with a crawler there is no need to go overboard, 2500-4000 is plenty.

RE: HPI Crawler King
For the price I would get the Protek batteries, crawlers don't draw a lot of amps so you dont need to spend double for the rocket packs. I dont have any experience with the Onyx chargers but a lot of people swear by them so either one should be good.
