Andy,

I am using the unit I sell on my website. They have an HD version for $100 more, but I think for what we are doing, the standard version is fine. The raw footage (non you-tube) is even cleaner and crisper.

Buck,

This is the Sin City flying field. It is the old site of the Tournament Of Champions (TOC) competition. Many a great pilot has come out of this field. I, however, am bringing the average down

BINGO!!!

The camera comes with about 6 different mounts and a protective case. The mounts are held on with some type of unobtanium (3M) double stick tape. And as you can see, even at high speeds, the camera sticks with no problems.

To give you an idea of how strong the camera shell is, I had this same camera mounted to the bottom of Inbound LZ's MB339 when it ran out of fuel in the air at Fresno. Jake did a fantastic job of getting the plane back tot he field and belly landing it 10 feet from the runway. The camera and associated mount were scraped along the ground and ripped off the plane. The only damage was to the shell. New shell, and it's back on the Flash!

I'll post a picture of it mounted to the plane this evening.

Chad

PS, Dave, the batteries died on the taxi out on the flight with jake [] I haven't changed them in a year, so I guess it was time....

Actually, the mount and the camera was ripped off the 339, the actual mount base stayed put and required an act of God to get it off the belly of the 339....

I use a small magnet to hold my door shut for transport so it probably doesn't open during flight
I may have to get one of those cameras too.

For those that requested pictures of the camera attached.....here you go. Dave hit the nail on the head earlier....there is no installation to be done. The camera bases are attached using a product called 3M VHB (super freaking strong double stick tape). The package comes with multiple flat and curved bases. The VHB comes pre-stuck to the bases, with a peel away on the other side. Do NOT attach these to anything you don't want it stuck to.

The camera itself actually comes with two different mounts (this is what is attaches the clear plastic case to the bases). One is flat and one extends out a little. This is convenient depending on your application. Encasing the camera is a plastic case that REALLY, REALLY protects the camera. Even after the below landing mentioned above, there was absolutely NO damage to the camera itself. The case on the other hand did not fare as well.

This thing takes great video and is extremely durable!
