e-revo or just revo?
Hello guys, I was thinking about turning my racing revo into an e- revo which will still be a racer. I just want to know which is better and I think the e-revo is slower but better handling . Help me please!!

If you have the cash an E Revo will beat any nitro one. They are far more superior than nitro. and way less maintenace.

Delsym,
have you ever got the max speed of your E-Revo? I clocked my BB Revo @ 56mph.

With nitro, you just refuel and you're ready to go. With batteries you have to wait for charging. Plus nitro sounds great!

yeah, but to the OP, look at the teknorc conversion kit from www.impaktrc.com it lets you keep the 2 speed
I had to adjust mine a bit to get it to shift into second, but it's a friggin beast now that it's shifting!

Yea they have come along way, the electrical side of the sport. Wait till some smart cooky incorperates a mini tesla coil or some fandangle other thing into the circuitry and illiminates half the battery weight and gains amps ! LOL ! Not gunna beat the electric ones, now or in the future, only the past.

RE: e-revo or just revo?
Brushless revo all the way... Brushless is simple, requires no maintnence, fast, quite, I don't know what else you want. Brushless and lipo technolagy is taking over.
There is really no advantages to nitro other then the fill and go they have. The truth is, with all the time nitros spend tuning, after run maintnence, it really evens out..
People like the sound and smell, but if you ask me, I could care less about the sounds or the smells. It's not like they even sound like a real car. They sound like a go-ped when you drive up and down the street with them. Thats if you get to and your neighbors don't get mad at you.
Brushless.....

you are not a man if you dont like the sound or smell of a nitro car
and you guys are saying that you are pretty much lazy cuz you choose electric cuz its less maintenance. the reason i got a nitro car was cuz its more complicated you dont just plug crap into other crap. also you say that electric is three times less well i guess if you buy 1 battery for it and run it for a couple of min and in order to run it all day you need to buy a crapload of battery that cost more than 40 bucks a piece or sit around all day waiting for it to charge. nitro cars just need fuel and you can run it all day and maby buy another battery for the receiver for like 20 bucks and your set.

RE: e-revo or just revo?
you buy a couple sets of lipo's and you can run a lonnnnnnnggggggg time. i agree you get a mamba maxx brushless system in a revo plus some lipo batteries and i think that would be more fun then nitro. depends on where i am at i guess where i live in town i drive my nitro cause my neighbors aren't too close and at my parents in the country, but up at my parents cabin i bring the e-savage up there cause i don't want to disturb anyone cause it gets annoying listening to nitro specially if you are trying to relax.

RE: e-revo or just revo?
Look, I love Nitro, but brushless is the future of R/C. I love tuning, and maintenance, that's why I'm into Motocross, Nitro, and building up real rigs. I honestly doubt I'll ever own a brushless r/c. In a few years, the money I'm dumping into this hobby is going to have to shink down by a lot. I've got to get out of the hobby and work more. I'd bet that by the time I retire, there will be hardly any nitros left out there at all. I'm also a little bit depressed that Gasoline vehicles are going down, but they've been around past their welcome. [&o]

RE: e-revo or just revo?
Nitro used to be the best. It was the easiest way to go fast. Now with brushless and lipo, It's taking the back seat.
No, I am a man if I like the sound of a Duramax diesel.... Not if I like hearing some 3.3 two stroke running up and down the street like a go-ped. I noticed I didn't see you talk about the maintnence of nitro, why was that? You also forgot to mention the price of fuel and the long term cost of nitro buying that fuel everytime you run out.......

don't forget the glowplugs you gotta have on hand, also the battery charged for the ez start or if you break a rewind. all you have to do with battery power is make sure they are charged and go.

RE: e-revo or just revo?
id rather have a nitro because of the maintenance i just finished taking the hole thing apart and cleaning it thats why i bought a nitro so i could keep it runnin and when im driving i can smell the exhaust. i do know it doesn't sound like a real car cuz im a bmw technician and nothing beets the sound of a brand new M5 ripin down the road at over 200 kmh. i guess im addicted to internal combustion engines.

Yea theres just something about RC nitro engines . There so much fun , well to some, and others a hassle.
l dunno about the go-ped comment, l dont recon your likely to hear a go-ped at 30000 revvs zipping down any street soon ! And normal two strokes just dont sound the same, oooo the response from a nitro is wikid, if they do sound the same for you, maybe electric is you path ! LOL !

RE: e-revo or just revo?
honestly, i dont understand why people are comparing nitros to electrics. they are unique in their own way, and they dont even run in the same class. right now i only have an electric, but i want a nitro. but i would not get a nitro if it consisted of getting rid of my electric. on the other hand, if i just had a nitro, i would want an electric, but would not get rid of it to get an electric. honestly, for me, i like nitro, i like the tuning, and all that cool stuff, but i couldnt decide between nitro or electric. i would want atleast one of each. the nitro would be fun to drive during the day (my neighbors dont care) but after about 7 i would put it up for the day, but i would still have my electric to drive. and if i went to the track, or my favourite bash spot, BOTH would be cool to have to drive.

He's right. Even though I don't think they are FAR superior than nitros, they are a lot less maintenance and instant power. But, there is that one little word, "cash", that stands between you and E-Revo. Also, E-Revos are just cool. As simple as that.
Delsym,
have you ever got the max speed of your E-Revo? I clocked my BB Revo @ 56mph.

I cant wait to see what I can do with a 9.5 pound E-revo with a 6 cell lipo(high 60s maybe possiable) Time will tell!
I also agree nitro and electric are 2 different beasts. I tried nitro a few times and got aggravated with the hassle so went back to electric. A few guys that I run with run nitro and I have total respect for the talent it takes to keep them running good.

RE: e-revo or just revo?
e-revo. i am attempting to find a 3.3 roller that i can turn into a BL revo. Nitro is pretty cool but after trying it out its alot of WORK. R/C's are a hobby of mine, not something that needs to be constantly re-tuned and babied. I like being able to say "you know what? lets go drive the trucks some" throw a battery on the charger and 20 mins later out in the field bashing it to high heaven. When I'm done I just put them away until the next urge.
While the nitro sounded cool (not sure where this smell comes from as it smelled terrible to me) it was just a hassle and back to electric I went. Different strokes for different folks

This is why you would give up that nitro stuff.

And this is also why....

I will soon have the same setup....
Yes, I had a 2.5 and 3.3 for three years and I loved them. I like the sound and even the smell. But the simplicity and ease of electric and turned me to the "dark" side.
