Default OFFICIAL CUSTOM RC THREAD

I figured that i should start a thread on custom rc cars, because that is what i enjoy doing. As some of you know i have been building a custom monster truck for the past few months. Well, i have some good news...ITS DONE. I enjoyed making it until i was almost at the end of the project, and i ran into a ton of problems (just ask the shop scrap bin) Right now, i am just doing little detail jobs (setting toe, camber, aligning servos, etc. Hopefully tonight i will drive it problem free. (there will be picture updates either way)

I also want anyone who has built custom cars, trucks, or parts to show them here

The finished product \/ \/ \/ \/ \/ \/ \/ \/ \/ (i will show pics of the buildup over the course of the thread)

i took two pictures of the car. one with body one without. I have a paint-like program where i blend the two pictures together, so you can see the body on and off at the same time (just because i felt like it)

Yea, It looks like you just uploaded it in photoshop and adjusted the transparency, i've done that and the effect looks good. Love the wheels.

It looks like you put in a 18SS I hope that has enough power for you. Howmuch does that thing wiegh, You should seriously have gotten the .18TZ. Becuase it looks to me like that thing weighs as much as a buggy, and if you put in a 18ss into a buggy it would run real slow. Hopefully im wrong and the car weighs less, but if you do have a problem with having way to little power definently get a .18TZ it makes nearly 2 times the power as the 18SS

It is the 18ss that i had from my rush evo. I own 4 motors for two rush evo's. Two t-15s and two 18ss. I figured of the two, the 18 would be tons better.

Last night, i tried to drive it, but all of my glow plugs are junk (i think) so i have to get more.

I am thinking of building another custom rc truck with a 4 link suspension and a weed-whacker motor. (about 1/5 scale) Or a large scale custom dragster, i am not sure.

Also, instead of an 18 tz, i am looking on ebay for about a .26. That is if my thin dogbones can handle it.

Is it as wide as it looks? Looks pretty wide, but it's cool none-the-less.

it is almost as wide as it is long.

My next question is.. What is a good high torque metal gear steering servo that is standard (?) size. My nylon gear piece of junk strips every two seconds.

That's a decent amount of kick-up on the front arms! looks very nice. Any close-ups of the internals of the truck?

Now that i am done with this truck, i am going to build another all custom car. I will build it from complete scratch metal just like this truck. This time, i will build a rail style dragster. I know i have a weed whacker motor. I know i have lots of aluminum. I dont know how i am going to put it together. (tires, servos, all of the extras) any suggestions and ideas are needed. i know that this is a car i need only for general straight line racing. nothing official, just as kind of a show off kind of thing. i also would like picture help.

ps. i will have close up pictures of my truck once i buy my servos and glow plugs

Here is kind of what i am thinking for the dragster. Flat rear plate on which to mount motor and drive sprocket assembly. Chain drive (1 speed) gears to a straight axle rear end. Racing go-cart slicks (soft). Two vertical plates from front to rear separated by spacer shafts with internal threads (plates in 1 foot or so sections). Servos all mounted to rear section. One long rod to the front for steering. Steering hubs angled back so tires steer and lean. Custom aluminum front wheels. (for body, threaded holes along vertical plates to screw on thin sheet metal on all sides except bottom. I can figure out fuel tank (obviously mounted in rear. And completely rigid rear suspension. Everything aluminum.

Please help! I am trying to find a website that sells r/c electric cars that you customize like with choosing a paint style, underglow, and that kind of stuff and you buy it. They build it. A guy at TRU told us he ordered one and my son wants this for Christmas. I know we won't get it by Christmas but if he could just order it on or by Christmas he would be happy. I appologize upfront if this is the wrong place to ask this, but I am having a difficult time finding the answers I need and am getting desperate. Also, it is not to race or anything like that just for him to play with. He just wants one that looks like he wants that he picked out and has everything he wants on it. Thank you for any help. Sincerely, FranticMom
