ASP Engine Parts
Are there any ASP parts distributors left here in the USA? Horizon used to carry them but dropped the line. I know Hobby People carry the Magnum, but was just wondering who carries the ASP?????

RE: ASP Engine Parts
There's no ASP dealer in the USA. Magnum engines are ASPs but at times there are slight differences between them
The Evolution engines are made by the same company and some of the Evolutions have a few similar parts to an equivalent ASP.
Horizon used to be a ASP distributor and carried ASP parts for many years. I always bought mine there. I even bought ASP parts to use on Magnums. But their ASP inventory is rather slim now.

RE: ASP Engine Parts
Some of us have bought parts for ASP's at this place
www.justengines.unseen.org
They are in Great Britain but the service was timely and good.
Keep in mind that ASP engines have been in this country for close to 30 years and they have gone through evolutionary changes. If your engine is real old, there may not be anyone with new parts for it?

RE: ASP Engine Parts
Thanks for all the replies. I don't need any parts at the present, but was just wondering who carried them now here in the USA. E-Hobbies still carries a few parts also, mainly for the 65/80 four strokes, but very limited.

RE: ASP Engine Parts
i have recently acquired a new ASP 1.08,(the one with a red cylinder head) but it needs a high speed needle -
any ideas of where i can acquire one ? - i've been told OS parts might fit; or am i going to have to resort to a
new carburetor assembly?
thanks,
greg

Check with le fou who posted two or three replys ahead of you on this thread, sounds like he may have some parts for ASP's and may be able to help you out.

RE: ASP Engine Parts
this is what I had to do
http://webpages.charter.net/rcfu/ConstGuide/MCM.html
it serves its purpose. I don't know about the red headded 1.08, but mine has a 7D carb on it. I'm beginning to think that as inexpensive as theese things are, they were meant to be disposable. The only other places I've been able to find ASP parts is a place in New Zealand and China.

RE: ASP Engine Parts
Frankly, I suspect that most of the engine manufacturers would prefer that we think of their engines as being disposable.
I'm now in the habit of scouring the auction sites for deals on engines like these. That way I can accumulate a stock pile of engines from which to draw parts when needed. So far it seems to be working.

I use mechanic's ignition pliars. They look like a small version of channel locks and do not booger up the nut like standard pliars.

RE: ASP Engine Parts
I am in desperate need of a back plate for a ASP 80 Four Stroke. Part number 80102. The carb mount broke off. Thought it was the same as the Magnum 80/90 backplate so I bought one from Hobby People. Wasted ten bucks. The case is slightly larger for the Magnum

RE: ASP Engine Parts
CellTech, I ran into that problem several years ago with an ASP 80, I needed the back plate gasket and ordered the Magnum 80 gasket. Well as you have found out also, they don't interchange and that shoots down the saying that ASP and Magnum are the exact same engines, NOT! Maybe most or some parts do, but not all, that is why I won't own an ASP anymore, no parts supplier here in the USA. [&o]

Even if someone stocked ASP parts, you couldn't randomly order a backplate gasket and expect it to fit your particular model of ASP engine, could you? ASP has several models of each size of engine, just as does Magnum. Am I missing something here?
*corrected spelling of random...

RE: ASP Engine Parts
Ed ASP does go thru updates example the AR and ARll. All mine have come frm Just Engines and they state DO NOT throw out the box i the early ones read AR the later ones ARll and they say to state this on parts ordering I have a bunch of their 2 s
strks and 4 strks Delivery to the US is only about 5 or 6 days have been buying them for over 6 years. the Bad part is with the
exchange rate now, so magnums are a better deal Ripmax has then under the SC label the last ones I bought were in 2004 or 5
I have an ASP21 2 strk quite sure this never was made as a Magnum martin

Reguarding two strokes . . . .
I once had a ASP40 that looked like a OS 40 FSR type design. After that there was the XL 40 that look like a "RF". Then the XLS series cam out in 2001 and it looked like the OS FX series.
I had an older ASP 65 four stroke and it was a lot different than the later models I had.
