RE: Horizon Hobby?????
Haha - how easy it would be to start a rumour with a post like... "I have heard they are about to release several new 33%". [8D]
The BME55 and DA75 is about to be released soon too (heard it from a very reliable source!)

RE: Horizon Hobby?????
A few months ago there was a 33% Cap on the Horizon web site. There was no picture, and the availability was TBA. When People asked Mike McConville about it he said he didn't know anything about it, a few days later the page was taken off their web site.

What do you want to see from H9?

Giant scale, aerobatic, let's see...Extra? Cap? Yak? Sukhoi? I know you had some of these in the past. Bring some back. How about a 33% 260 or 300? A Yak 55 to be different? H9 never did a true 35%...how about that? Maybe a 40% (only one H9 did so far was the Ultimate). All kinds of stuff to do. You make, we fly.

RE: Horizon Hobby?????
A lot of people are more comfortable buying and building products from Horizon as they stand for a certain level of quality both in terms of design and production. Instructions are typically better than the entire industry and for the most part, even the accesories are pretty good.
Other than the smaller Extra and Cap, Horizon has not really addressed the 50cc market significantly. By that I mean a wingspan of approx 85" with an AUW of 15 to 18 lbs - larger than the current Extra and Cap where a light 50cc results in fairly high wing load.
A Yak would not be necessary, as there are over a dozen out there, some of which are really light and well designed. But an Extra, a Cap, a Sukhoi, an Ultimate or even an Edge in that size would be very attractive for quite a few people.
It's an opportunity to migrate people to a larger scale and in turn, sell more expensive servos, radios and engines. I would assume Horizon would be interested in designs specifically made for their own line of engines and accessories, rather than let DA lead this segment...
People are shelling roughly $2k for a proper IMAC or 3D bird in that size. While the unit numbers are lower than the .90 or .120 segments, the revenue might be similar...

Nah, a FW-190A in the same scale as the P-47. It should have an eastern front spring thaw winter camo scheme and the gun hood should be set up so it can be used as a hatch...in case someone wants to make it electric.
(Mike, I'll be happy to test fly the prototypes!)

Great ideas! BTW, there is also the Seagull Bling for the 50cc market. It flies very well.
Right now we still have the 33% Edge 540, 33% Extra 330S and the 46% Ultimate. Were always working on new stuff too!

I have told everyone who will stand still long enough that I think there is a HUGE market for quality warbird ARF's built around the DA50 (or similar). How about a DA50-sized Miss America?? How cool would that be??
But all we keep getting is another YAK, another Extra, another aerobatic plane. Don't get me wrong, I love aerobatics, but man after a while you start wonder if the model makers think that is all there is out there!!
TopFlite has a new 84" Cessa 310 Twin that looks way cool.

Or just an update of the 33% 330, I think a lot of people would like to run a can in it, which seems difficult with the current design.

RE: Horizon Hobby?????
Two Planes I would like to see are a 100" F4U Corsair and a 100" Spitfire. Both awesome looking and flying warbirds. for that matter you could bring them out as an ARC model and let guys finish them the way they choose. Some could fabric cover, some could glass and paint. make provisions in them for canisters if need be.
the market is so over done with edges, yaks, extras and caps. Get something new that everyone would want. Great plnease released their giant aeromaster biplane ARF as an ARC version, I bought one and I have to say I am VERY impressed with the quality fo the building.
Mike, you ask about retracts, Robart, Century Jet and Sierra Precision, not to mention a few other I am sure could handle the retract situation.
All I have to say is "if you are going to do it...do it the right way...dont cut corners, make it right the first time and you will have excellent selling models!

Mr. McConville
How about a 80cc extra 260 will be lighter than the current 33%ers and a bit better on the engineering. Not that the others are crap but theres a lot of things that could make it way better. With a servo bay in the middle of the wing for a single aileron setup. i have way more ideas that are mostly borrowed form a lot of other arfs. All the great things in one plane would kick ass.
Also a slightly bigger 50cc sized extra 260 ~85 ~1350 squares
A 50 cc katana with slightly over sized fuse for better knife edge performance
A 80 cc katana with slightly over sized fuse for better knife edge performance
all these planes in a true 100cc
Make a ~63" profile that doesn't have the fat funfly airfoil and weighs no more than 7 to 7.5 with a saito 125
A 50 cc sUper decathlon
A .40 sized profile thats similar to the 100 sized mention earlier
An inexpensive pattern plane
A 50 sized profile like the 63"
A foamy like the e-flite 260 with slightly differnt mods in relation to the carbon(half of it is more than needed) and half the extra layers of foam on the front
A dedicated Electric 85",97",106" wing span in any or all of the following: Extra 260, 300 with the wing on the thrust line, Yak, Edge, Katana, Shark, Sukio
A .50 sized racer
a 1.6 sized racer
a 50cc racer
A 1.25 glow version of the kangaroo jet
A .25 combat plane
A .50 combat plane
I have so many more ideas too; ill stop here so other's don't hate on me lol
Ill leave my ideas for motors and electric eq for later.

RE: Horizon Hobby?????
How about some more planes (Yaks, Extras, etc) based on the G-26 size engines? You have a wide range of gas engines with an overload of planes capable of the 50cc +power....[8D]
