What was your first R/C
Just as the title state's people, lets hear it. I think the interest in r/c vehicle's begin's at an early age. I remember my first r/c was a nikko lobo monster truck. it was blue, 4wd and had probably an rs380 motor. man if i could find one of those now I would be all over it. I am 30, so i am guessing that truck was around 1987-1989. I actually still remember the box it came in.-cheers everyone, lets hear your story!!

RE: What was your first R/C
very good question I honestly can't remember
I'm guessing it was probably a tyco or something. I owned the lobo buggy thing broke after 2-3 uses [:@]
I know I have a 30-45gallon tupper ware container of them somewhere in the basement.

First hobby grade was some crappy plane that was 2 channel, Dad crashed that into my neighbors house. Later on i got an Evader Ext. It was good, just running on the street by myself was boring.

First real RC car was GrassHopper. After that was a Tamiya Mountaineer then on to a Hitec Kangaroo. I could list the early ones in order but at some point it all becomes a blurr. I've owned close to 1000 RC cars and trucks over the past 25 yrs and built at least twice that many.

I couldn't tell you what my first R/C was, I had a lot of toy grade ones as a kid. My first hobby grade R/C was a Tamiya Blackfoot in 1991. I got it for Christmas along with a Futaba Attack 2 stick radio and built it myself. That was awesome.

Mine was a Tamiya Frog.
Yeah, I'm that old.
Ended up with a Tamiya esc and an O5R stock motor with (wait for it) a 1800Mah nicad battery!
Overgeared with a 19 tooth pinion, losi wheels and foam tyres, went really well, till I hit a lightpole.
One dead frog.

RE: What was your first R/C
My first rc was somewhere around 1956. The plane was a Debolt Livewire and I believe it was powered by an Olson & Rice .23. Transisters were not invented yet so you had to fire up the filaments in the vacuum tubes with a large 45 volt and a couple of c cell batteries. A little over a pound of batteries. Servos were not around so we had a thing called an escapement which was powered by a wound up rubber band. The plane had one channel which controlled the rudder. Push a button on the transmitter and go left, push it twice and go right. No throttle on the engine so you had to wait till you ran out of gas and glide it in for a landing. But believe it or not you still could do loops, split S's and other maneuvers by just holding the button, let the plane spiral down gaining speed than give opposite rudder and let the built up speed carry you over into a loop and so on. Anytime you brought the plane home in one piece was a time to celebrate. Things have changed.

Here's a shot at my oldest and first RC Plane, Carl Goldberg's Eagle 63, this plane was first built by me in 1983. She is 28 years old, has no ailerons and still flys great. How's that for RC planes having a shelf life!

My first rc was a Skyward 20. A nice little trainer with an OS 25 abc engine.I crashed it 3 times before i couldn't repair it any more.4 weeks later and and three more crashed planes and I had taught myself to fly.
20 years later and I still seem to have a love affair with the ground from time to time...lol.
