ANOTHER COMP ARF SPITFIRE
I use to own the Fiber Classic version that I purchased used, I lost the plane in 2008 after half of the right wing decide to go on its own. The Comp Arf version is stronger and I am looking forward to get this one in the air.

I plan to install a descent cockpit interior and sliding canopy. The top of the fuselage cockpit area was removed as well as the back window. I made couple detailed formers from laminated foam and carbon fiber for the back one. The rudder, elevator and tail wheel steering servos are mounted on a rail under the pilot seat. Some modeling plastic was used to detail the side of the interior.

The cockpit interior is 1/4 scale and was purchased from: http://www.inzpan.com/Supermarine_sp..._p/600006.htmn in the Czech Republic, beautiful work! Most of the items need to be painted. Will post more pictures later.

I use a 3W85 engine, the fiberglass on the engine firewall area was removed and replaced by a stronger firewall made of 1/4 plywood and G10. The interior of front area was reinforced with carbon fiber. I will be installing a cooling duct for the engine, the pick-up is the large scoop on the wing and flex hose ducted to the front of the cylinder head. I mounted the 3W almost against the firewall and made a 1 and 1/8" hub extension. The most that might stick out of the cowl might be the spark plug cap.

Flap!
Got to get all of them functionnal! I cut the inner flaps with a thin dremel disk, the flaps will be hinged as per the full scale. The servo will be installed in the side of the wheel well where it is accessible also I am debating to try those drive screw servos! A pin will drive the inner flap as per the full scale. Some work but worth it!

As mentionned in other post the wheel wells have been positionned further out on the wing, not sure the reason since Sierra gears and the original Fiber Classics gear set were manufactured to fit the original design. Two options were discussed, one is to recut and move the wheel wells to the original location, I found this solution proved to be more work than I wanted to do. I opted to turn new and longer gear struts, this is my secong machining work but since my lathe was to short to bore the inside I want to thank Robert Ihly for completing this task. By the way I use the original landing gear from my early F.C. Spit. (may it rest in "pieces")

This is excellent!
I will soon order my C-ARF Spitfire (almost done saving) and want to go for a full cockpit with sliding canopy.
Since I have no previous experience when it comes to sliding canopies this thread will surely come in handy!
I am really impressed with your work so far, especially for going your own way with certain details like the aileron hinges and the flaps.
Knowing myself I will not have the energy to modify this on my plane but I want to do some small extra details after all. (Working scale exhaust from Keleo, cannons, rear view mirror etc.)
I have a 3W85xi (only the standard) on the shelf that will fit nicely in this bird. Hopefully the power will be enough even though it's not the CS-version...
Keep up the good work, I will follow this build with great interest!
