Be nice if someone with your choice & Jody state the weights of each respective style.

RE: DLE 20 Header and Can
Excerpt from post #18 of that thread____
So my cannister muffler came in...
Why does there always have to be bad news with the good?
Ok, first observation... it's huge!
Good news the quality of the cannister and header itself is pretty good for what I paid for it ($60USD).
Bad news is the supplied hardware is awful... cannister brackets are good for half the diameter and the hose clips feel like they are made of lead (read very heavy).
Second bad news... the header doesn't fit the DLE-20 despite talking to the vendor on the phone and being assured that it does. Oh well...
Pic 1: Parts as supplied. You get what you pay for and this was cheap. I didn't for a moment think that it would be a drop-fit
Pic 2: It needs an additional 8mm of drop (header face to outlet centerline) and 24mm shift to one side. Here it is bolted to a steel plate for bending with a blow torch.
Pic 3: After slotting the header mount holes and bending it, it kinda fits. This is a test and not the final installation.
Wednesday I will pick up some high temp silicone to protect the airframe where needed. Thanks Scott for the advice.
Cheers

RE: DLE 20 Header and Can
Thanks!
11 ounces minus about 2 ounces for stock unit= 9 ounces more than stock unit
'goose' ditched the heavy mounting clamps, so he might be around 7-8 ounces over stock.
Not too bad if noise is a big issue where a person fly's.

Hmmm, I may be interested in that canister setup from Valley View. Anyone got a video of one running? I would like to hear what it sounds like. (I don't like my engines too quiet!)

About $100.00/USD?

I need to improve the fittings. Will work on that this weekend and post weights of all components required. Been trolling through the bicycle shops for light weight bits and pieces that I can cobble together into a decent mounting bracket. Work in progress but once I've got it sorted I'll post pics, weights and part numbers so you can source the bits yourselves.
Hardware stores I am afraid only sell bits an pieces made from the heaviest materials they could find.
I have found M3 to M6 aluminium bolts and will be retrofitting my plane with these. After adding the Mini pipe I want to claw back as much weight as possible.

Equal to the stock unit? Less?
