Just a thought... can one ask for photos of the item being shipped so that one can prove that damage took place after packing? The Bill of lading or Airwaybill should have a declaration that the item is damaged. I suppose that nobody gives a hoot as to what they are carrying as they must have been jumping on that Hawk! That is surely not normal handling damage...there is too much of it. I feel sorry to see such stuff being shoveled around. Very sorry.

Yeah, Forward Air scared the heck out of me. I shipped my SM Hawk to Fl and when they took it from me.... the guy with the fork lift banged it against the door frame and then was balancing it on one of the forks to get it through the door. I thought I was going to witness it drop from from 7ft.
Not that this should matter but that crate that was sent to you was a little weak. Mine was much stronger. Maybe that helped it's success.
I have said this before... there are no consequences to the employee handling our stuff. Why would they care. They should have cameras all over and checked periodically. Total BS! No integrity!

Hope it was insured!
first problem i see with the crate is no elevation blocks to get it off the ground. If they cant easily slide the forks under it, they'll just push it up against something until the forks either slide under it, or the crate breaks.
In your case, judging how the crate is upside down, that is exactly what happened. It sucks, but to me it wasnt packaged properly to survive the trip and while it still should of survived, better packing would of given it a better chance of success.

I bought the L39 and hawk at the same time, this was during the carf sale. Andy Kane has been on the issue, carf is building me another plane, kind a wished I had changed it to the swiss scheme (at the time of ordering only the display 2010 was available the rest sold out). I don't think they had it insured so it will be a loss for them; its a pitty could have easily been shipped via FEDEX the box was smaller than my UL which shipped via fedex without issue.
L39 came in no problem and is fine, Hawk was destroyed, wings were fine but since each plane's wings are matched to the fuse I had to have an entirely new jet sent.

This was before the crate was closed and shipped. There were 2X2 wooden blocks underneath for forklift space. Fortunately the jet was insured. Any one have success with claims with Forward Air and how long did it take.

Here is one thing I have done to all my crates: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Everbilt-...2?N=5yc1vZc29f
Put 4 of those, this makes it very easy to move around, it gives forklifts the room it needs so they can slide the tongues under neath and generally makes it it easy to position at the terminal.
ALSO never have a freight item delivered to your house, always go to the terminal and pick it up there, inspect it so bring a electric screw driver/drill and go over everything. Generally with freight once you accept then that's it no recourse if it is damaged.
