New H-9 Extra330S
Just picked up my new H-9 Extra 330S, didn't even let the H.S. owner see it. Took it out still in the "Brown box". This appeard to be one NICE ARF !! covering is flawless, all glue joints have REAL exoxy or CA. Don't see any "hot glue". NICE.[sm=biggrin.gif]

Keep the post updated with your progress. I have a 3w 78 that is looking for a home. The Hangar 9 is the most likely candidate...post some pics when you get a chance.

Will keep up the post. Started assembly last night. Kit is really nice. Instruction book is great.
Biggest problem now is engine. I have a new Brison 4.2 I was going to put in a 30% Edge 540 that I could never get. (supplier out of stock for at least 4 mo.) . I was thinking of putting it in the 330 but now I'm having second thoughts. What do you think ?

It all depends on what you want to get out of it. If you want a nice sport plane or something to do the IMAC pattern (lower classes) the 4.2 will do okay. If you want much vertical or are looking for something to do 3D with you will be disappointed if you don't go with a good strong 4.8 at least, preferrably a 100cc twin.

Wags, (andy),The H9 Sukhoi is still in the box in the shop.(will be a later project after I crash one and your repairing it)
Pugs, Hobby Town in Macon had it. Has another one coming this weekend, Then NONE for a while. I was fortunate in being first on the list when they were announced.

Hey Pugs,
Can't believe you sold yours, man. I know that's a killer combo. It screams with a DA100, too. I'm getting ready to start my Suk soon, I'ts gonna have the BME102 on it. It should be pretty nice, too.

P-51, your right, The advertisements say ready to fly in 15 to 20 hours.
I'm SLACK! BUT the instructions state let all 30 minute epoxy set for a minimum of 6 hours. If you do the math it takes 12 hours plus, to put the wing and ailerons together as per instructions. Believe me I want to fly the thing A.S.A.P.

Aero.....yeah, it was an awesome combo. It was a great flying plane....just wanted something different. I am going more IMAC and the plane was too much fun in 3D...could never get any practice in.

Yep, FineFlyer thats what were talking about. If the Plane was designed around the Z GT80 I would think it would be an ideal choice for it. The firewall is already set up for it and the instructions are written for it.

RE: New H-9 Extra330S
H9 recommends Zenoah engines on several of their planes....The simple fact of the matter is that the Zenoah engine will fly the plane, but that's about it. The H9 Sukoi was supposedly designed for the GT 80, if you like to hover, don't plan on having any extra power to pull out. If you are going to go with an 80cc engine, the ZDZ is the best route. Obviously after that, any 100cc engine will do the job.
I have yet to see any of the H9 planes have the ability to fly all of the 3D manuevers with a Zenoah engine.

RE: New H-9 Extra330S
it's very simple.....marketing
H9 sells Zenoah, Moki, MDS, etc, and recommends them in their planes......
Tower sells OS, Fuji, US, etc and recomends them....they want you to buy their plane AND engine....

RE: New H-9 Extra330S
John Glezelis did a demo with the new H9 Extra at the Rantoul IMAC about a month ago. Word was that he was doing some awesome 3D........with a ZDZ-80.
Mike McConville used to demo with the H9 Sukhoi and ZDZ-80.
There ya go......two free clues.

RE: New H-9 Extra330S
If this plane comes out at the advertised 24 lbs. a ZDZ 80 will have plenty of vertical. It would definitely be my choice over the Zenoah GT80.
