Default H9 Edge, Moki 1.8 or OS 1.6

whats the best setup? i like the moki, but it is 12 oz heavier than the OS, and from what read, setup per instructions, the OS is a little nose heavy in the plane, so will prob go with the OS 1.6, but what prop works best for this combo of OS 1.6 +H9 Edge 540? was thinking 18x6 Mejzlik

Yep, using a moki 1.8 I had to move the battery (1200mAh) back 1/2 way between the wing's trailing edge and stab! Also had 3 oz. of lead under the stab when I was using an MDS 148....

I had one with the OS 160. I strongly recommend the Moki 1.8 or a 2.10 if you want enough power to pull out of a hover without sweating it for a couple of seconds.

so with a Moki, all you had to do was put the battery half way to the tail? any extra weight? what did yours weigh with the 1.8?

Default mount

One more moki question, will a bisson or slimline pitts muffler clear the hangar 9 mount, or what did you have to do to make it work?

I used a bisson muffler - pitts style - lot of room for exhaust gases to exit.

Never got to weigh it - two weeks ago my son shreded it through the trees when he lost radio contact. why, why, why do planes always go DOWN when you loose radio contact???? Shouldn't they go UP ONCE IN A WHILE?

My 1.8 with the Bisson muffler JUST cleared the mount, in fact, it is touching. I thought it might turn into a problem, but thankfully I was wrong. All is okay.

For a prop with the Moki I really like the Moki brand of probs. They are high gloss and really perform well with the 2-stroke. I think the reason for the performance is the narrow blade and the APC like style.

I have heard of great results with Mejlik (sp?), but I have not tried these as of yet.

Good luck.

My experience has found that the 18x8 Moki worked best. Other type props will be different and generally less diameter. I was also going for (pull) diameter vs. pitch. Still flies quite fast with the 8 pitch.

Default H9 Edge, Moki 1.8 or OS 1.6

I choose the OS over the moki for several reasons, one 12 ounces is A LOT of extra weight, which in turns hinders performance. The moki your going to need a cline regulator (50$), os doesnt need the cline regulator.

I am also going with a Jett In Cowl muffler which will boost power dramatically, average 25%, and looking at the numbers they got it really really helps, so in no way will my os not have enough power.

I am going to put moose carbon fiber landing gear to save another 3.5 ounces and carbon fiber pushrods to save weight. One more weight saving thing is Lithium Batteries to help dramatically reduce weight compared to the regular nicads. Im using a 2000Mah pack to ensure several flights

Instrument pannel and pilot figure are optional, but if you intend on competing in IMAC you will take a hit on your score if they are absent. I wouldn't want to handicap myself that way, besides the plane looks better if they are installed.

H9 includes a instrument pannel sitcker that ought to qualify, but get a pilot figure from TNT landing gear. They are finnished, light weight, cheap and best of all they look great.

Moki's don't require fuel delivery assistance no more than os. Rather a lot of folks using these engines choose to equip them with fuel assistance delivery systems. This is not unlike glow assistance.

mrc100 IS RIGHT. I HAVE 6 MOKI'S AND NONE OF THEM REQUIRE FUEL PUMPS OR REGULATOR'S IF SET UP PROPERLY.

I think that the Saito 180 is the best choice. I have done everything imaginable with mine, and it has lots of power. I use the mejzlik 18-6 and still run 15% fuel. My edge weighed just under 13 lbs.

Use the OS 1.60 FX in your edge. I have this very combo using a slimline pitts muffler and the 18x6W apc and it comes out of a hover like a tractor. If that is not enough add the Jett Performance muffler and the performance is close to the moki 2.10. This is the ultimate combo for 3D hand down. Plenty of power with out the weight penalty.

Yeah, I'm going to use the Jett In cowl muffler. And the nice thing is the muffler adds on average 25% more horsepower but not only that, its lighter than the stock muffler it comes with!

You DO NOT need the cline pump on the Moki. I'm running the MOKI 1.8 in a SIG 300XS and power is AWESOME. It will hover all day without missing a beat and has big power to climb out. The engine is spinning a 19x8 mezjlik prop.

My fuel tank is back by the CG, a ways rear of the stock location. The engine runs flawlessly and puts out great power.
