friends driving your car beware!
for those newbs out there just a lil friendly reminder of letting friends drive your expensive hobby or to them "toy" cars. I new better from the past but my neighbor was watching me run my T4 out front and once again I felt ah its ok. I once explained the steering, throttle, and braking to no avail. My car is fast but not brushless fast about 30mph and thought an adult could handle it. For starters he ran it up my driveway and I had the garage door open about 6-8 inches at the bottom. Well somehow he managed to squeeze my car under the garage door into the garage. I opened the garage and no harm no foul the car was ok except for my comprehension on how it fit with out breaking anything. So stupid me lets him try again. I think he froze when it went flying up the driveway instead of breaking and turning the car. Anyway, he goes flying up the street and decides to bring it back. As he is full throttle on the return I once again think he froze because the car was hauling butt and getting to close for comfort. He steers and slides it sideways into the curb turning the cvd almost into a u shape and destroying the rear hub. Now for the front no big deal just another right side a arm and a front bulkead. So a arms $9.00, bulkhead $2.00, cvd shaft $11.00, you get the picture. dont let your friends drive your car no matter how hard it might be to tell them no. If they want to drive point them in the direction of tower hobbies, hobby people, or hobby town usa and tell them you would be more than happy to assist them. they dont understand the speed and responses of these things and concrete hurts the car and pocket book lol. my wife already hates these things so I dont need to help her passion with stupidity.
once again for you newer guys out there. us been around awhile guys should no better

nope of course i didnt expect it either. friends unless they own these cars dont understand. if I wrecked yours emaxxer than I would be like let me know how much it costs and take care of it as I am sure you would do the same. however, with people that just are not into the hobby they think fixing it is free I guess or if not just a couple of bucks. lesson learned again lol. i try to be nice. its not like i hand it over to just any 10 year old on the block. heck my son drives it all the time and understands the controlls better and he is only 6.

yep. lessoned learned once again. I wont make the same mistake a third time. Yeah I know its supposed to be the second time . my lhs is close by though so I picked up all the parts. I am gonna run next door right now with the bag o crap and show him how expensive it is. basically to make a point. i have been neighbors with him for 4 years and he is a pretty good guy. he just doesnt understand the expense yet but he will in about 10 minutes. chances are even if i let him he prob wouldnt drive the car again after seeeng the costs.

RE: friends driving your car beware!
my neighbor asked to drive my emaxx and I explained to him that it was hard to learn to drive cars this fast and that he'd probably end up running it into a tree. I also told him that I had like $400 into it so I wasn't going to take my chances. He sounded hurt a little but I didn't really care cause he moved in only a few weeks ago and I don't really know him, besides I'm not going to let a fourth grader who is used to radioshack crap drive my emaxx. I let my friend drive my emaxx but he knows not to go full throttle and he can actually control it. My brother's girlfriend was visiting and she wanted to drive my TA-05 a little. I said ok and she handled it really well. She went nice and slow and upon seeing that she would not make a turn stopped and backed up. Some people understand how to drive R/C's and others just don't. But Cavfighter you should totally make your neighbor pay for the broken parts cause $22 is a bit, not much but still...

lol to both rc fan and agent. no one in their right mind would drive a car if you said give me 4 bills up front. I know your point. As far as my neighbor I really dont think he will try it again. He did feel real bad about the whole thing. No he didnt offer to pay for damage but it did teach me something again that I already knew. The point was for the newer guys out here because I have been around RC for years now and should have known better. 20 some bucks really isnt crap when you break it but when it someone else your like holy crap so yeah I understand. Anyway thanks for the reply and dont follow my lead

i let my dad drive my brand new car and he thought he should "test" how far the radio reciever can go
well it goes out of range in a biiiiiig parking lot at full throttle
it slams into the curb in second gear about 200 yrds away doing about 65
then it bounced off the curb and kept on going and hit a cars tire about 275 yrds away
it didnt break anything, but it did pull the dog bone out of its socket
i just replaced the radio with a fubuta and never had the range problem again

RE: friends driving your car beware!
I have alot of people (including little kids) stop and talk about my cars and heli's, but I hardly ever have anyone ask to drive them.
The top questions I get are: where did you get it, how much was it, how fast is it, and how high does it go (when flying a heli). My Heli's attract a lot more attention than my cars do, I always have people stop and watch my fly them. Not too many people ask about the cars anymore.

Well I wouldn't say it's easy to learn to fly a heli. The biggest problem for me when starting out was getting everything setup correctly, the actuall learning to fly part wasn't too bad once I figured out how to somewhat correctly set up a helicopter. Setting up a helicopter is nothign like setting up a car, or even a plane. A MUCH higher level of work and precison is needed, even just one loose screw can cause some major damage.
I'm only in to electric heli's right now so you might want to go ask about the nitro's in the heli forum as the only one I have any experiance with is my dads Raptor .50.

yeah, it's kinda uncomfortable when somebody wants to try it,,there is a neighbor kid everytime he hears my nitro screaming down the road n' parking lot he will come out and talk to me, the only good thing is i have a nikko hummer and i let him run it instead of my nitro but he can't resist to ask if he can run it..of course NO...he's a nice, polite kid and listen to instructions that's why he can run my car or else even the nikko he can't touch it.

RE: friends driving your car beware!
I was just driving my TA-05 in the school gym to try it out and all the stupid imature *******s from my grade came and started chasing my car. One dove to try and grab it and I slamed into a wall by trying to make sure he didn't fall onto the car. Nothing broke but I put some scratches on the Ferrari F430 bodt . Also the turnbulkes popped off and one of the anchors of the turnbuckles ripped out probably stripping the plastic which really sucks. I hate it when people chase R/C's!
