Can anyone try to give me an idea how or what it sounds like with a tuned pipe? I have never been around a engine with a pipe.
Thanks, Glenn.

Hey, I heard an elephant at a zoo once, but thats another story. I have heard some say they think a four stroke sounds good in warbirds, others say large two strokes sound '' throaty'' and pipes can sound quiet and smooth. Lets say this, if you could put a pipe on a warbird like a mustang would it sound out of place?
Thanks. Glenn.

put mine into the minicraft (hangar9) Taylorcraft. Put a pitts style muffler on it, sounds great, looks great.

Unfortunately, my Evolution 26GT is still in the box. But I do intend to mount it on my Ultra Stick 1.20 Lite later this year.
I'm going to run a muffled pipe too. I like the muted sound of a muffled tuned pipe. Very civilized sounding - for a two-stroke. <G>

Hi Artisan, I also started in about 1952, comet 10 cent stick models and struct-o-speed, I fact as I type this there is a 25 cent struct-o-speed kit still in the box setting on a table beside me, it is a fokker D VIII and beside it is a jasco models paa master in the box, this model took first place in the 1/2 A paa load event at the 1950 and 1951 Dallas nationals. Yah I save stuff. Thanks for your post about the stick.
Glenn.

You are welcome.
I didn't get started modeling until the mid to late Fifties. I was a young'un back then.
I built model airplanes from toothpicks, Duco cement and facial tissue for covering. Mom wondered where her nail polish was going. I used the clear stuff to paint my toothpick models. <G>

Sorry for the late reply, The hobby has come a long way in what seems to be a short time. Do you know which muffled pipe you will use? I would like to know so I could consider useing one.
Thanks. Glenn.

Hi Glenn
A friend and I made it - from aluminium sections.
Cutting the pieces took about 1.5 hrs then we had it welded, I think it is worth the effort.
See this post about the installation [link]http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_2629624/mpage_1/key_/tm.htm[/link]
See this post for the cowl [link]http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_3032268/anchors_3035752/mpage_1/key_/anchor/tm.htm#3035752[/link]
I need to measure the muffler for another gentlrman so let me know if you want the dimensions.
Tim

A few years ago, I bought the MVVS header/pipe combo for their MVVS 1.6 gasser (same engine as the Evolution 26 GT), so I'll be using that.
A scale model will not take to the use of a tuned pipe easily. For those instances, I bought the Bisson Pitts muffler and will use that for scale applications.
