I first took bdavisions settings and modified them slightly. (Only TH-CV/IDL1 ) They work very well, they definitely tone down the throws. But I don't understand them all. See comments at end of settings.

I don't know why we set throttle to only 43% of throw, is this just something strange in the 3 and 1?
I think I want to increase the head spead at hover, but I want to keep it at 50% travel on the stick how do I do that? Is this something I can just do with the knobs?
Also I want to increase the travel of the servos back to the stock deflections, but put some expo in the ailerons and elevators. Anyone else feel this need? How much expo?
I think I am really going to enjoy this much control on the Blade CP Pro, it is very very cool.
Please share settings you are using.
Thanks, Larry

RE: Share Futaba 9c settings for Blade CP Pro
You leave the 3 in 1 in and just change the crystal to match the 9c. Be sure and get a Futaba Single conversion black label crystal.

Very good question. I've done the above and my LED on the 3 in 1 just goes solid red. Everything works except the throttle. Suspect my heading hold G90 on my BCPP may have something to do with it.

How do you set up the heading lock gyro for the 9c ?

RE: Share Futaba 9c settings for Blade CP Pro
My problem with the solid red LED is that I had the throttle numbers reversed. Duh! Works great now.
I got my G90 working too. I set CH 5 to VR-B and reversed CH 5. Works JUST like the original TX with the G90 except it's on VR-B now.
Now if I could just figure out the helicopter equivilents of airplane dual-rates, I think I'd have this Pro where I could tame this beast. Any ideas?

RE: Share Futaba 9c settings for Blade CP Pro
Try some dual rates on ch 1 and 2. I tried some expo, it worked, but I really didn't like the effect. With 30% expo, in hovering I went from about a 1/4" constant corrections to about 1/2" constant corrections. (These things just don't fly themselves)
Also changed the idl1 curve so it matched the NORM curve on points 3, 4, and 5. That way you can flick the idle up and not get a big suprise, and the tuning for general flying stays constant. I know the higher pitch is suppose to give you more power, but I just found they bogged down the motor. Perhaps when I go brushless I will flip it back.

Point 1 22.0%
Point 2 39.0%
Point 3 57.5%

Point 5 75.0%
Also found the settings a little soft on ailerons, and elevators so I went to
Goto SWASH AFR
make ailerons -60%
make elevator +68%
make pitch +64%
Again, this is so you can hover without throwing the stick to extreemes. These settings still do not have as much aileron and elevator throw as the stock setup.

RE: Share Futaba 9c settings for Blade CP Pro
These setting were made by me on Runryder a while ago. I guess some people forget to give credit to the creator. Anyway here are updated settings that work. I used them with my blade cp, that had a TP 910 lipo, bellhiller upgrade, carbons on the mains and the tail and 2 heat sinks on the main and tail motors. This heli is basically a Blade CP pro but better.
Those are setting I posted some time ago and they work great but If you want full movement in the servos have a AIL Rate in SWASH AFR to about -84
These are the settings I have used for a while and they have worked for me. Inverted works fine too.

Thanks for the fine work, WingsWest. Nice to see who finally gets credit for putting this all together. I gues through translations over several sites, it seemingly gets lost.
I noticed that you did not include this in your setup:
Was this an oversight in your post or is it not necessary? If it wasn't in your original configuration, any idea why someone apparently added it and what it actually does?
Thanks,
bob
I noticed that you did not include this in your setup:
Code:

Sorry for the seemingly harsh reply. I do appreciate your sharing your information with us.
I think I'll put mine back to 100/100 since that's the way you're doing it.
What would you do to "calm it down" as opposed to making it more aggressive (What settings would you suggest playing with/changing)? This thing needs toning down bad until I get a little better at it. Mine's a Pro wit the BH head so it's more sensitive to begin with.

RE: Share Futaba 9c settings for Blade CP Pro
I take what I just said back. I have mine on 43/100. When I checked my radio it was actually on one of my airplanes. Sorry about that. To tone down the inputs, you can adjust the expo. You can make it to where when you move the stick it only gives just a little input and makes it less touchy, if that is what you are looking for. If so you can change the expo to a lesser number to get a less sensitive input. So you would change the expo on channels 1 and 2. I do remember when I switched to the BH. It was a lot more sensitive, but a lot better for acro. You could flip it over like nothing and it was so easy to fly, but that was after flying for a while too.

Play with the SWASH settings, these are very calm.
Goto SWASH AFR
make ailerons -50%
make elevator +58%
make pitch +64%
I am a little mystified over this setting
//---------------------------------/
// Go to THR-CUT /
//--------------------------------/
MIX>OFF
RATE> 0%
THR> 5%
SW> H
POSI> DOWN
The only thing that happens when you activate switch H is the red light blinks. It has no effect on throttle in either the normal or idle1 setting. Please set me straight.

Thanks guys.
I'm a little mystified by the settings on the rotary dials. What do they do? What if they accidently get moved while flying another model? Is this something that should be checked each time prior to flying?
Is there a such thing as dual rates like I'm used to on airplanes? Seems to me that you should set the swash settings and leave them alone and do something like dual rates or something.
Sorry. All this heli stuff is totally new to me. If ya need any help setting up a giant scale, let me know. LOL

RE: Share Futaba 9c settings for Blade CP Pro
To be honest, I really dont know what the dials do and they dont need to be really worried about. The person i originally consulted with to develop the settings gave me those and at the time I never thought anything of it. The dual rates are defintley possible, in fact they are better if you have some for hovering and then you can flip the switch and go into an acro. You set it up just like you would on an airplane, on the ailerons and elevator

RE: Share Futaba 9c settings for Blade CP Pro
The VrA knob and VrC knob adjust the hover pitch point and hover throttle point respectively. To see these in action, go to your throttle curve settings and move the VrC knob you will notice it changes the 3rd point. (center point)
You can also change the VrA and VrC knob to also work in idle up. (that is what I did)
So these can be used to adjust the head speed at hover, much like changing the pitch linkages. For instance if you want a little more head speed, turn down the VrA knob so you get less pitch and turn up the VrC knob so you get more throttle. (I always land before messing with these)
Most people set up the idl1 settings to be more aggressive, so that becomes the dual rates. There is also idl2 settings so that would give you triple rates. But, as you note, this does not change the amount of travel of the servos. You should probably play with dual rates / expo and let us know if you like the results.

I read somewhere you had to change the crystal in the transmitter to a single conversion crystal also for a 9C to work. Is this true?

Yes you do. Just buy this rx crystal in your channel and you're set.

So you have to change the TRANSMITTER crystal to single conversion also? Or are you saying I would be set with just a single conversion receiver crystal?

Sorry I missed this before tonight. Single conversion v. dual conversion crystals are a receiver only thing. The TX does not care. Not sure where or why that confusion developed above but I wanted to make sure it was clear for those who my be new at all this.

Very Good. Start with the settings as outlined above and you will be VERY pleased. It turns the Blade into a different heli. I swear.
