I have seen this engine in action. It was actually started 3 - 4 times in front of me and it always started in the first try. Mind you that this engine had a crash earlier that week and it was reconditioned before it went on a brand new ROO> I did have feel of this plane as well and it was really cool. I think you should go for it. Kumpol, and Kraivuth both are really helpful at PSTJETS>

I have looked into this engine quite extensively and saw my first J600 at Jets Over Whidbey. You can follow the threads and kind of get an idea as to who is flying them. The guys in Australia and some in the US are flying them now and they are performing very well. So I made the plunge and ordered the J600 from Kelly in Canada and got it in three days time directly from Thailand.
I have spent the last several days going over the manual and looking at the hardware and it is one fine piece of engineering. The manual includes all the TEMS settings when the engine was test run at the factory. Since the turbine sits back from the area where the TEMS unit is to be installed, the factory worked with me in customizing the actual length of the wiring. Great support so far. I am hoping to have it installed in the next week or so and will let you know how this little gem performs.

My friend has 2 of them here in Hawaii. Great motors he has the earlier versions with the orbit controllers. I hear that the new ones with the TEMS are even better. Anyway he flys the engines often in a Avonds F-15 and a Yellow F-16A. Both are great flyer's and get off of our rough grass field with no problems.

I think he has at least 40 flights on the F-15 if not more. and 20 or so on the F-16. They start every time, and put out great power! I would not hesitate to get one.

i think i got one of the first j600 in the uk and its my first turbine love it to bits starts first time had over 6hrs flying so far flys me i.a.d serpent on half power 10-12 mins safe flying time i have the orbit aecu its not as fast a pickup as the tems but the start up is better freind has the tems one in same plane only problem with the orbit is the ir sensor tems is hall effect so sun light does not effect it only had one flame out and that was due to strong sun ny day

put in a nut shell cant beat it of value or performances

will be putting j600 in me yellow f16c when i finish it

I have one of the PST 600 engines that I got in October.
Just finished an AV8R for it.
The engine is a great little engine - just like a small version of my Jet Cat P 120.
I got this direct from Thailand, and shipping was only four days.

The PST 600 was fully reviewed recently in RCJI and it is a delightful engine, beautifully made and works to perfection. I purchased the review engine and like it so much I bought another. One is in my BobCat another in my BVM Sabre.

The PST 600 is a gem, and , no, I am NOT a rep, just a delighted customer !

I have a PST600 in a trim f-86. The installation is fully ducted. I have now fully sorted and tested the aircraft. Even though my sabre weighs 17lbs dry, I limit the max. rpm to 155K. I get slightly improved fuel economy and slightly reduced power.

I almost always fly from grass, and I can assure you that even with a take off weight of 20lbs+, my sabre easily takes off from a less than perfect grass runway(at 155K rpm). I like to fly the plane fast, but I can also cruise around the skies at reduced power if I prefer.

I believe advantages of using this turbine(as opposed to larger turbines at derated power)are, reduced fuel consumption, lower installed weight, reduced size of bypass diameter, reduced wing loading...

Do have any pics of the installation I can see. Did you use the Trim bypass and tail pipe??. Sounds like a great combo and good value. Do you think the P-80 is too much motor for the Trim Sabre??

I haven't personnally had a chance to build one yet, let alone fly one. Everytime I get one in, it immediately gets bought! As you said though, the Sabre will fly well on the 1200 sized engines, but you get that extra power and performance from the 1700 sized engines that allows you to really have some fun.

Yes Vince, I did use the Trim components. I havn't any photos in digital format, but the whole thing goes together fairly well. I flew mine at Mangalore, and once sorted, it was really moving. You could definately use a P-80, but I think the PST600 would be a much better combination.

I had thought the Trim F-86 was for D.fans only.
Is the PST the the J600 advertised for $4100 in RCM News ?
Very interested to hear you can operate from grass, although one runway approach at Tingalpa (TMAC) is not totally flat, would this be a heartache ?

Hi Marty How r u ? Did you remember my Trim F-86 with PST J600 at Mangalore Jet Meeting ? Now I'm using this J600 with my BVM Bandit(Bigger & Heavier than F-86). The small J600 could produce plenty of power for Bandit maneuverability

G'day Glitch, were you at Mangalore? Yeah, the trim sabre is for both d/f and turbine. I bought my Engine whilst on holidays in Thailand, but it is the same as that advertised in the Aussie mags, except that the controller has been updated and I think the rpm sensor may have also changed, but you will have to check that.

I almost always fly from grass and its a lottery sometimes because of the poor/dry conditions of our fields during this drought time. I bend the occasional strut because of this, but generally speaking, outings are trouble free. If your patch is reasonably smooth you will have no problems getting airborne.

I'm still kicking myself for missing Mangalore.
I'll find out if the local delivery has the Hall effect magnets and TEMS ECUS.
Thanks for the comments re grass, the guys keep it very smooth.
If you don't mind me asking, with 63 " span and 15 lbs for the DF version, I'm a little edgy about the wing loading with the J600 and a heap of kero. No nasties during the turn onto final approach ?

Glitch, on your turn for finals most of your fuel will have been burn't. You will still have a higher wing loading than the fan version but the sabre can handle it fine. If you have fan experience you shouldn't have a problem. Reagards Frank L.

Just back from flying the J600 in my Dominator sport jet(local Spectre variant) with great success. Installed thrust 5 Kg's at 160K RPM, take off weight at 7.5 Kg's, and very happy with the flights.. Full bypass ducting installed as well as full onboard auto starting as standard...
