don't think so. If you want to go that fast go with nitro. I have the rs4-3 18 SS, and it goes 50 mph

The Sprint 2 isn't made to haul @$$ with the nitro cars, it goes like 30 stock, and most people say the belt system can't handle a lot of power. My RS4 3 18SS is twice as fast as my Sprint 2 out of the box, but I use the Sprint 2 for drifting. A kit electric car like the cyclone could probably run with a nitro, but the RS4's are fast out of the box!

i know this isn't an hpi but my tc4 with an hvmaxx brushless goes 70mph without all the nitro hassle and has super nitro speed and nitro run time.

nitro isn't the only way to go fast. electric is faster!!

Well, I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that electric is faster. Its definatly easier, but a ported small block nitro engine or even a big block (mabey) should easily go 70, but I highly doubt a Sprint 2 could go even 60.

I know this reply is a couple of years late but hey better late than ever..

I have a HPI RS4 Sport2 and I believe the 4 wheel belt system is very similar. I am running a Sektrum Transmitter & receiver & servo with a Novak gtb/ Novak Brushless 3.5/ with a 4800 Kokam Lipo/ which equals to a **** load of power. I am pushing 70 easily (no problems so far). Running with regular matched cell batteries (3500) I had it clocked at 57mph at a drag strip held by a local hobby shop. The LiPo makes a huge difference. Before turning a 3.5 w/LiPo on to a sprint I would suggest upgrading some of the parts (aluminum shocks, swaybars, one-way diff up front, metal geared servo) and you should be fine or alone at the finish line for a few seconds.. :^)

although Nitros are alot of fun too, they have a down side to their power.
1. All nitro motors will wear quick due to heat (as with most small combustible engines)
2. Parts are more expensive
3. Very seasonal unless you have an indoor nitro track (rare due to the fumes)
3. noisy so be ready for the phone calls if you live in a quiet neighborhood
4. Must be a fast ass runner if you flip it far from where you are standing (fuel will spill all over from the breather when turned over)

So in conclusion if it's speed you're looking for and not nesseccary how it's powered I believe there is more bang for your buck in an electric and yes they can go faster than a nitro. Currently the R/C onroad speed record is held by an electric setup. For now.

Well. I have a srint 2 and it has a 10t double modifide @ 46000 rpm . and my belts are just fine...The next step is the LRP Fusion 9 turn double @ 56000 RPMs. So eat that gas guys.

Well I hope the Sprint 2 is a good car.. I just ordered the sprint 2 sport toureza and am hoping to learn to drift. I know nothing about electric so would like to know what I need to do to it to drift....

Lol I remember this post.

My Spring 2 goes at leats 50, probably 60 now with a brushless motor on lipo. Its all good, but the rear belts to go every once and a while...

Regarding the post by MTboy, its a good car. It will drift good with drift tires. With a little bit better motor it drifts great, and you can lock the rear diff to help.

So I'v had the sprint 2 for 2 months and have to say I have been to busy with my savage to really get it out.. But since today is raining I decided to get it out and start some modds.. Wanting to lock the rear diff and would like to know what I should use... Also cut the rear out around the belt. Any other things I can do now at home...

Order up some Drift Tires, HUGE Diff. over the stock ones You can drift at slower speeds and carry it way longer!!
I got the Sushi ones on ebay 3 sets for $10shpd Great Mod !!!

Locked it up and got some ABS pipe to make tires... Must say it's alot funner to drift now. Also have some sushi tires comming. Thanks for that. Still tring to find a body with light buckets that is in stock.

i know is been a long time and this is as old as it can be but it seems the nobody is into making this lil devil any faster ......well for fortune of some i will since i got a used sprint 2 for like 50 almost new just a few scratch on the chassis and a set of broken pulleys and rear belt which i bought at the LHS today and since i have a vxl system laying around my tool bag so i'll start the lil quick build and post my speeds......A.S.A.P

I have a video on Youtube of my Sprint 2 clocking 40 with a Mamba 5700kv brushless kit and a 7.2 IB battery. With my 11.1 Li-po it will easily excede 50. I have made it go fast...

all rite so i finish it last night and i knew i should not have been drving at night but i did manage to get this lil devil at 62.9mph then crash....lol is ok i just broke a rear a arm and lost a couple of dog bones.... is fast .... remember this is a 3500kv motor .... so here some pics next time i'll try a video.....

The biggest enemy to the rear belt, on most belt driven cars, is rocks. On my older Nitro RS4 if there is a rock in the parking lot, it will find it.

Careful with the gearing. I had to drop a tooth on the pinion to keep the motor temps below 190, and I see that you already have a smaller than stock spur, which is 87. The left side wheels also like to loosen after about 20 minutes of solid driving. Have an extra rear belt on hand also, but usually you will see it wearing a while before it breaks.

I see your maxamps battery is crushed in there just like mine. What size is that?

this is an 11.1v but and gonna go back to 7.2v with a high kv motor that way i safe some weight and with this same gearing and some extra top secret stuff[>:] i'll the 100mph..... [X(]no doubt....[&:]

Just got my Sprint 2 today...the classic impulse buy! Just on a few initial runs I think it is pretty nice. I got the 67 Corvette version and love the body. I had an 11.1 Lipo I use in my Rustler and this does move very well. I have always been more into the Savages and Ruslter style vehicles so we shall see how this holds up. The only thing I have noticed though is that the steering on these is very sloopy. I can wooble one tire and the other does not even move. Not a major issue but just something I noticed.
