Man that's an awsome looking boat , did you build it yourself $$$$$ I'd love to put something together like that . I spoke with the guy's at Quickdraw they make some impressive engines. I have two V hulls , now i'm ready for a cat.

You definately do not have me convinced that set/up does 73 even on flat water. Forget the 30mph head wind !! I personally can say with your set/up....judging by your rudder configuration.....ISN'T DOING 73 , You can take that to the bank.

Later Wally

Sure its possible to reach those speeds. Put the boat in your trunk with a 30mph wind and drive at 73mph on your gps.

63 quite doable. 70 isnt the easiest to come by.

Dont even see the plug spacer QD says to run on the HT. Hope you are running race gas, as without the spacer detonation can occur.

Taho if it cant go that fast with the surrent set up how do can you manage those speeds or is it just your boats that can go that fast?

Wally's boats are on the ragged edge, with virtually nothing causing drag in the back of his boats like a standard dual pickup rudder blade does.

My cat ran 70.2 and 70.4mph with a regular heat race setup propped for it.... maybe your numbers would be a little more believable if you didnt say you ran 73 going into a 30mph head wind.

Ive seen Avengers and Conquest's not be able to run 60mph into a 15mph headwind...

http://youtube.com/watch?v=DpyIZmkWU1w

this was my cat on its way to another 70mph pass with only 5-7mph winds... running 70mph+ with cats are on the very edge of the last step doing a balancing act with the air coming into the tunnel. 30mph headwind into a cat running loose enough to go 73mph... i dont believe it either

Coyv10 I appologize for speaking out , I just know what it takes to pull off 70 with a Cat.....and beyond that is a bigger Hurdle. I myself have been building and tweeking set/ups for 10+ years and know that you have to pull all the stops and have everything just right to get from 72 and beyond. Not till this season did I obtain the Motors & Props that were able to take me to the next level.
I have been chasing this for a long time and have finally made my Goal. Here's yesterdays results..................

Last thing.....There are hull designs....thats are not up for the Task.....You understand I hope

I am just further depressed after today, took out my new AM Conquest and blew it off 4 times at 65+ mph. No prop, strut or minor C/G changes could prevent it from happenening over & over.

If those GPS reading did not come from a trip down you local expressway in the truck ? ... I'm impressed to say the least !

Thanks Men , Scott sorry to hear about your boat....I think if you get that motor tucked up to the bulkhead you will gain better control.
To say the least I'am Discusted that my Video Cam is DOA. This is not the last of my Venture.....I will be attempting to get video footage like I always do , Especially now that the comments are surfacing like this one.

I've seen the vids of 70+, Scott. Wally's the real deal. Don't feel bad though. I used to be skeptical. Thing is just because you or I can't do it doesn't mean it can"t be done

I feel your pain. I have a drag cat with a QDHT that has a top speed so far of 62 so don't feel too bad. If it was easy everybody would be running 70

wally what kind of the video will be coming of your 82.6 mph cat? cause my friend is going to make a bet to me, he will bet if your cat start by 0 mph and ands up at 82.6 mph on the GPS, he would lose $200 to me, I hope you can help me make that $, by the way, gamble is legal in Vegas, when is the video coming?

People keep posting videos claiming 70 mph and gps this that the other (ONE PERSON IN PARTICULAR OR IS IT TWO ?)but ive yet to see a video where the boat actually looks that fast??>I have seen videos of boats doing 70+that looked like they might just be that fast just not very 0ften in my opinion.

Ken , You are going a bit over board with this number....It was 82.3 not 82.6.....anyhow if I can get the right conditions again , I'm going to adjust my set/up for that pass again. I'm sure I will see right around 80ish again.....but if the conditions blow up I'm not going to destroy my boat just to settle somebody's bet.

Keep your Pants on Buddy.....I spent half the day today taking my Camera apart just so that I don't miss out on the next time I have the Opportunity to record this event....when it unfolds again.

Latta : Wally

I want to get this on Video just as bad as the next guy to Stake my Claim

Hi Wally wasnt aimed at you but a certain person or persons who knows maybe he has a split personality seems to keep posting his 70 mph video and if thats doing 70 well id be absoluteley bloody amazed .I know videos can be decieving but i think its more than the video thats decieving in this instance, just my opinion but there you go.Ive never seen a boat do 70 in person although ive seen some do arround 55-60 .Not saying 70 isnt doable sure it is ,just hate it when people claim these speeds with no evidence to back it up yet continue to pour scorn on others claims of 70 mph.
