Picco Max Bumpstart Backplate
I machined some bumpstart backplates for the Picco Max. It is a direct drop in, no need to grind the crank nub. I have been running mine since last year, but I machined about 75 more due to people asking if one is available. I have sold a few, and have gotten good feedback.
If you are interested, send me a PM.

RE: Picco Max Bumpstart Backplate
Is thier any advantages to going to a bump box for the picco .26 max on the revo 3.3. I had the easy start on the break engine in then the one way started slipping and guy at hobby shop tries talking me into 150 Rd logics box. I just put the pull start on and realy dont see any problem with this. Not gona waste the money on the box if I can get along fine with this pull start. All I do is bash so what would you sugest?

Since you are just bashing, I would just staick with what works for you.
The bump box is convenient. You never have to buy another one way bearing. It free's up a little HP by reducing drag on the engine that the starter shaft and the one way bearing present.

RE: Picco Max Bumpstart Backplate
Yes, I still have some left. I don't plan on making any more though. Once my stock is gone, that's it.
The reason you cannot find one is, Picco does not make them as an optional part. When I bought my Picco in 2006, I searched and searched also. Once I realized one was not available, I reverse engineered the original backplate, and had some machined. I have been using mine since about May 2006. I have sold them to a couple members of this forum. I also been in contact with one of Picco's distributers(*itro *ouse). They have customers calling them all the time for backplates, and they finally just contacted me since I am the only one who sells them.
Shoot me a PM if you need any more info.

I bought one and loved it. It sealed the back of the engine great. You realy dont even need to seal it the backplate fits so snugg. Very good part A+. If wanting to go to bumpbox Id say get one. Wont regret it

RE: Picco Max Bumpstart Backplate
HA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now OFNA offers a backplate exactly like mine. It only took them 2 1/2 years.
About a month or so ago, they contacted me and inquired about my cost to sell my backplates to them, and they wanted to know how much I sell mine for. I did not think it was appropriate to post a price on the forum, as I though that I should handle that off the forum, in PM's and e-mails. However, since they posted their price in another thread, I feel it is now only fair to post my price.
My backplates are $21.50 shipped, to the lower 48 states. If you are interested, shoot me a PM. I only have a limited amount of backplates left, so it's first come first served. Once all mine are gone, the OFNA ones are going to be your only choice.
ELMOBSTER, adjust your settings so you can accept a PM. I tried to send you a PM, and I got a message saying that you choose not to accept PM's.

I find it kind of funny about the price OFNA wants for there backplate, It dosnt look as sealed as yours is. Your Craftmanship is amazing and IMO Home manufactued are usally higher quality than Mass manufactured products!

RE: Picco Max Bumpstart Backplate
Thanks guys.
I actually machine my parts on a multi-axis CNC lathe. No doubt the same type of machinery that Picco uses. I know exactly how long it takes to machine my backplate, and Picco must take twice as long to make one, given the price they are asking. Or they are polishing each one for 10 minutes and charging it as machine time instead of a secondary operation, which polishing would be. Or god-forbid, NitroHouse is charging 3 times the amount they should, in order to take advantage of customers who have benn begging for this part. Some people would call that supply and demand. I can think of a few other choice words for it, which I can't say on a forum.
I look at the new backplate and I see a reworked Picco Big Block .26 backplate. They polished it and put a groove in the face. If I recall correctly, that backplate was like $26. I really dont think they did $20 more work to polish it and groove the face.
