Default GT-80 and DLE111 Mufflers

In doing some shopping for a set of smoke mufflers for my GT-80 it appears that DLE-111 mufflers will fit the GT-80. Can any one confirm that? Thanks!

The DLE is 40mm between bolt centers and the GT80 is 38mm

I have seen DLE mufflers used on the GT-80 but you are moving the bolts and nuts out further on the mounting flanges so there could be a problem if you are not careful. Those familiar with the GT-80 will understand what this means. On the other hand, reasonable priced mufflers are available for the GT-80 and if not especially set up for smoke, you can add a tap to each muffler and you have an instant smoke muffler. You might look at this company for one source:

I just took a close look at my GT-80, i see what you are saying. It would mean moving each bolt out 1 mm. May be doable with care and do not over torque. Thanks for the input, going to "kick the tires" a bit.

I used DLE 55 mufflers on my G62's, and DLE111 mufflers on my GT80, they work just fine. The muffler mounting flange on the Zenoahs is elongated, or slotted, allowing for SOME adjustment, within reason. The 1mm per side you are all referring to, is within reason and worked great for me! The DLE mufflers are also among the lightest of their kind!

You can find square nuts at any good hardware store that will fit perfectly into the flange, I believe they were 10/32 if my memory serves me right. I had no trouble swapping out the included muffler blots for the proper length of 10/32 to match up the set and make things work.

I know the smoke mufflers from Slimline for the GT-80 are $150.00 I think Jtec makes a pair for less, but you'll have to give them a call. Bold Muffler also makes a smoke muffler for the GT-80, but you'll have to call them too.

Hey fella's. Here is a picture of the DLE-111 mufflers attached to my GT-80. I persued this with Taildraggerrc because the owner, Chad, said he would let me return them if they did not fit. So, really i had nothing to loose by giving them a try. They fit very well. The slight difference in width of hole spacing is not noticeable at all. The only thing i did was used JB Weld to add some flat washers to the tubes where the muffler bolts attach. When the time comes for final assembly i will use lock washers and high heat Loctite on the nuts. By the way, i did use JB Weld to build up the sides of the nut where the bolt is attached from and through the bottom of the left hand rear muffler tube.
Edit: The system would not allow me to upload the picture. Will try again later.

That's what I meant. One of the mounting bolts goes down through the exhaust tube on the one side due to cylinder offset.

I am looking at the set by RC Extreme Power. All the mounting bolts are external on those units. Not that this would make any difference in performance but rather simply personal preference.

There is 2MM difference in the GT80 and the DLE 111 bolt spacing ( 38MM and 40MM ) and that is almost .080". I know some compensation can be made with the way the cylinder flanges are machined and slotted but I would prefer to get the bolts up nice and close to the inside as possible.

I'm not finding fault here just stating my opinion and comments. [8D]
