I guess I'm a glutten for punishment. Just purchased two of these for $175 each free shipping. Haven't found much info around on this particular engine, but for the price even it's total junk it's worth the gamble for me.

It appears to be a direct clone of the DLE20cc.

Where did you purchase your two from?

Hopefully, they turn out good. Keep us updated especially any warranty/service issues.

I've got the 26cc and for a year it was a great engine, but then the bearings wore the case out and now its junk. A local modeler purchased the 50cc XYZ and its running fine. I guess it madders what day it was made, mine must have been made on a Friday.

Looks like the vvrc version may be a bit better, includes a rcexcel ignition, mount and ngk plug

Received the engines, just from a very quick glance they seem to be nicely machined. Real Walbro carb, fake cm6 plugs and XYZ brand ignition(hopefully these will work). Comes with two plugs and a wrench. The muffler is extremely light and looks to be well made. Have to say the shipping was very fast as well. For $175 shipped each, these seem to be a decent engine. Planning on mounting them both to a bench at the same time and running them in to see what I get.

Looks like a DLE clone, but regardless, these tings rock. Have a DLE 20 and an off/after or clone or whatever it is called RCG 20 and that thing barks just as nice as the DLE, I whatch out for one of these you got and get one

Finally got around to running these. I'm running the stock plugs and ignition. I had to squirt some fuel into the carbs to get them to fire, once running they seem pretty good so far. 1600 +\- 50 rpm at idle. One engine is running 6,500-6,600 rpm while the other is running 6,300-6,400 rpm. I'm sure a little tuning and they'll match up. Still have to switch to real ngk plugs. I'm happy overall. Will keep updating this thread as I run them in some more.

Something is out of whack, here: what prop is it turning? This is about 2000+ rpm too low for this size engine. My G20 turns an APC 17X6 @ 8700, and I think the DLE 20 is about the same. Given, my engine is fully broken in, but even so, a new engine should be somewhere in the ballpark.

I'm pretty sure I'm running 16x8's, I onestly can't remember right now. I'm wondering if it's the Pitts mufflers I'm running on these. That's not good at all to hear.

With 16X8's, you should be seeing in the vicinity of 8000rpm. You might give a few heat cycles: start, warm the engine, go WOT for a minute or less (static) shut it down and let it cool. Repeat.

Just had an afterthought on this: you have tuned the carb at the first run, haven't you. If you have, please excuse the comment. If you have not, that might be what is producing the performance you are seeing.

Got around to messing with these engine again. Put the stock muffler on one. With stock muffler I'm getting 7000 rpm, Pitts muffler is 66-6700 rpm both spinning 16x10's. So I guess I'm probably around where I should be. I've got a couple of 16x8's I'm going to use for break in, but I ended up with another problem. For some reason my left throttle servo is surging, I can't trace it down. Both engines are set up the same, I thought 2.4 systems weren't susceptible to these issues. Unfortunately this plane (ESM bf 110) is giving me nothing but troubles, between the engine, retracts and servos burning out I'm about to put this away for awhile. I don't see it flying this year.

I've got an older XYZ 26 on a 20+ year old 1/4 scale Balsa USA, EAA Biplane. A 16X8 Master Airscrew seems to be a good prop for it. Im also running a Walbro WT-220 carb, but I don't think thats what it came with origionally, because it has a primer bulb on it, and that doesn't seem right to me. What number Walbro carbs came on your XYZ 26's.
The only complaint I have, is that the ignition pickup coil has to be as far CCW (as looking from the front) as it can go, and it's still slightly advanced beyond 30 deg BTDC. It would be nice if they had drilled the mounting holes in the proper place. I used my dremel and did a little creative grinding, and now the timing is about 32 deg BTDC, close enough, and it seems to run fine.
Had a few other issues to deal with like CG and wing incidence, but I think we have it all squared away now.
As soon as the weather gets better (about a week), i'll take it out and see how it does now.
The only other gasoline plane I ever had was a Great Planes Giant Super Stearman, and it had an SV-26 on it. I had alot of problems with that engine, like the mounting ears breaking off the CC from vibration, and the stock muffler was too soft and would crush and get loose all the time. I ultimately got frustrated and gave up on the SV-26. I hope this XYZ-26 turns out to be trouble free. Now, what about those stock XYZ-26 carbs ? What Walbro number did they origionally come with ?
