Default sailplane tow release

I had this published in RC Modeler a few years ago, but I thought some would appreciate an online version. I designed a lightweight & aerodynamic tow release in the nose of my Spirit Elite that performs great and is very reliable. The pics should be self explanatory:

The key to construction is keeping the aluminum pipe bends & flanges smooth.

nice simple system.. could save some space by cutting the tube where it enters the nose area and just run the bowden cable along the floor and up the sloped face, fairly flexable cable should be able to do this easy enough, a typical F1 former at 90 degrees might be a bit harder on the curve tho.

What hooks into the nose of the sailplane? I see the black loop in Pic#2 but is something coming out of the nose when this loop is in? Help me understand

the tow line has a small loop on the end, you push it into the nose tube untill it appears in the plane, then the snake holds it. to release you pull the snake out and the line with the loop on the end pulls out. the thing on the nose is simply the other end of the tube. it looks weird because it's smoothed?
