I only have experience with HPI
I have a HPI nitro MT RTR, and a RS4 3 SS both nicely modded up. I think if you get a RS4 RTR it's like $290 or so from tower. Could be a little more, I haven't really checked lately. But you get the whole deal, car, engine and controlled ready to run practically. The HPI's have been nothing but great to me and my family. We have 3 of each model I mentioned earlier and all seem to enjoy them quite a bit.
If you are a die hard race fan maybe you want to look into something a little more "race" worthy, but for the bashing we do and competive parking lot driving, IMO the HPI's can't be beat.
BTW, I think almost all of the street cars start at under $400, so you should have a lot to choose from.

fastest.. I say nitro Fusion by schumacter... Best.. is hard to determine.. great quality, go with a Mugen or serpent, ... bashing and knowing that you can find parts for? HPI proceed or SS. Or the NTC3. Those are your best bets!

or are you looking for off road, for 330 a 1/8th scale buggy the ultra mbx pro by ofna.
also onroad in that range the ofna ld3 a very nice car as well.
the savage is about 340 for the SS or 420 for the 25 rtr version as well.
