Mouse Can Muffler build advice ?
hello. i’m looking to build a mouse can muffler for my OS .40FP, OS .46LA and Thunder Tiger .42 engines. i understand the can must be 6.5” long. and no more than 1.5” in diameter. does anyone build mouse can mufflers or give advise on the build??
i’m not sure
on header length or where to find the headers at. The headers are far and few between. Thanks in advance….

it's a bit big but you can try a Bud 16oz can, for trials just use J&B Weld to glue in a stinger tip

Hi vwitte, sorry if my use of "grammar nazi" offended you, I meant no offence by it. Thanks to Seinfeld with his "soup nazi" (a militant "foodie" on Seinfeld's TV show) the term "nazi" has come to mean someone fervently dedicated to a cause, rather than always being used as an insult to the German people. Anyway, I hope all goes well with your mousse can muffler and I'll be watching this thread to see your results .

Hi!
I have used aluminium hair spray bottles for mufflers on some of my airplanes.
The bigger size the better! Picture below show my Great Planes "GEE BEE-R2"
powered by a MVVs 15cc engine.

No actual experience, but this is something I have wanted to try for a while. I think these are for a .25 size, so maybe the next size up for tubing or at least the exit hole. Mouse Mufflers

Mousse can mufflers are really best suited to .45 and smaller engines. Bigger than that and the volume required to actually break even or boost power gets pretty ridiculous. A 12 ounce liquid bread aluminum bottle is pretty good for volume on a .45, or a bonafide mousse can (the biggest you can find). Volume doesn’t hurt here.
Finding a suitable bottle is the easy part. Finding a header that will work is another story.
