Default TRX 2.5 temps

Hey guys, what sort of temps are you getting with your 2.5? I was running today in 35 degree wet weather and was getting 300-330 degrees with my Ofna meter. That's with an enormous head too. That sounds hot to me, but if I went richer, the performance sucked. It was blowing tons of smoke and running good. The high temps just scare me. Thanks!!

That is quite common with a 2.5 motor. I had to put the MSJ mini fridge head on my sons. I run my sons about 235. That is with him driving it, and hes not on the throttle alot. If i were to take control, and bash the way i do my truck, it would climb over 300 easily. All you have to do is search the traxxas forums and view the 100's of posts on that same topic. My LHS always laughs when they take apart somebodies 2.5 motor, they are always BLACK inside. I love the maxx, but MT's deserve BIG blocks that are alot easier to tune, and handle these heavy trucks alot better. I dont know what they were thinking.

I would have to see that, to believe it. A perfect 200? Thats hard to believe. What pipe, plug, and head are you using?

But actually, that might be possible. You said SPORTmaxx. Thats only 2wd, alot less stress on the motor. Still, i would love to see a perfect 200.

umm i think my bro is using a mckoy plug, not sure which one though, stock pipe, stock cooling head. he was having problems with it (he just got it) so he took it to my lhs and one of the mechanics there tuned it.
