My first suggestion would be to check or replace your battery connection. While using a Fail Safe, the only way an RC can get away from you is if there is a bad connection between the battery and the receiver. Of course, a bad FS doesn't help either but isn't nearly as common.

Loose and intermittent connection between your battery and the receiver:
You can be driving along with the throttle open and if the loose battery connection loses contact your FS will not have any power to do anything. Your RC will continue doing what it was told to do before it lost power to the servos.

My second suggestion would be to pick up another set of crystals. They're cheap and they do occasionally go bad.

You might try the switch on the truck. I've had to replace 2 of them in the last year or so

This happened to me with an x-factor and it was the throttle servo. I would suspect your servo since the failsafe won’t stop the car. Mine worked fine on the bench.. After I ran 2 tanks through it the throttle would stop responding while I was driving it. It had something to do with vibration while driving. I replaced the servo with a better one and the problem was gone. Then I got a great idea to add a failsafe, but then the throttle would stop responding again while driving. I removed it and now it is OK. The kid at the hobby store said that the failsafe is ok but if your batteries are a little weak it will not work well. I remove them from both cars they stink.…. anyone want a deal on them?
