Beginners Car Kit
Hey Guys,
Im new to this place and RC cars pretty much. Ive owned the odd RadioShack RC truck, but Im looking to getting into something that is customizable and enhancable.
Im just wondering what kit (RTD) you guys suggest. Im fairly mechanicaly inclined, but Id still prefer something that isnt too complex. Im also not sure whether nitro or elec would be the way to go on my first.
Thanks

RE: Beginners Car Kit
Pretty much any Tamiya kits are good for beginners. One of them was my first kit. They have great instructions, and produce great cars for a beginner

RE: Beginners Car Kit
Im just looking to drive around, no racing or anything.
Id like to go with something off road, but not some huge monster car.
My max is like ~250, so I assume only electric is in my range

ummmm.... you might be able to get in a cheap Stadium Ttruck for that much.... mabie, i also think the Durotrax 2wd buggy is $260. None of the "beginner" tamiya kits that i know of are off road. And i think the TXT is out of your price range. Your probably gonna hace to go on road electric buddy

RE: Beginners Car Kit
sorry raykessler but there are buggies from tamiya that run offroad. and ducay has many more choices.
id get a Tamiya buggy. they can be run on and off road. 4WD. the only problem that you may have is they are kits and the radio needs to be purchased seperately. if you want an RTR than id suggest going with Traxxas. the Spirit is only 99$US so youd have money for hop ups. hope this helps.

Ducay,
Welcome to the hobby. I wouldn't leave out e-bay for your budget. Also, look at used cars! I'd go to a local track if possible. You will find a lot of cool guys there who may just be looking to get rid of an older car. it can be a win win situation for you. Also, pay attention to what spare parts your local hobby store carries, and buy accordingly if possible.
Just my two cents.
Peace.
