ZDZ or 3w ??
I was going to get a brisson but After sending them a few emails and never hearing back i decied to go with a ZDZ or 3w.
Which engine is better in your opinion? Are there any downsides to either? Seems like the ZDZ is a better buy due to the lightweight and more power.
I am looking at the specs for the 60 cc in both engines. zdz weighs 3.96lbs, 3w 5.32lbs. Hp is 6.5 zdz and 6.0 3w. ZDZ with muffler will actually be less than the 3w with muffler. Zdz also says it uses a rotary valve which makes it have a smooth idle anda better powerband and instant throttle response. The zdz 80 is a good bit cheaper than the 3w 75. zdz also makes more power with less weight.
I guess i am set on zdz! I just want to know if there are any drawbacks to the zdz line of engines or the 3w.

RE: ZDZ or 3w ??
The ZDZ80 and 3W-75 turn pretty close to the same prop. I have heard good and bad on both but... I currently own a 3W75ius and it runs flawlessly. It has the new ignition(ignitions were a problem in the past!) and I would'nt trade it. What plane are you putting this in?

RE: ZDZ or 3w ??
I too had to make this choice a year ago. I finaly went with the ZDZ because I like the rotary valve induction. In my opinion it is totally mainenance free verses a reed valve wich can wear, deform or chip, after a while.
I liked my ZDZ so much I bought another one.
Thanks

Well if you go purely by manufacturerer claims then you really have no idea what the actual weight and horsepower are.
They probably weighed it without muffler, ignition, battery, spark plub cap, spark plug, etc.
I can second what deputydog said. I've had experience with both and they are pretty close in terms of preformance. I'd say get whatever one you can pick up cheaper! No sense spending more money for the same thing.
