Checking RPM on a turbine?
I have a Simjet 3000 with no data terminal to see RPM.
I'm getting only 25lb thrust ,but at what RPM?
If the motor is not maxxed out for 25lb ,maybe it would be OK in my BV F-4?
I'm concerned of a shortened lifespan in exchange for this amount of thrust.
Can somebody tell me how to tach something over 100k RPM?
Any way to interface with the factory installed RPM sensor?
And no, Simjet STILL doesn't have any SDT available to us end users!
Thanks,
Jake

Jake,
I don't know the solution to your Simjet problem but.... JetCat advertises 16.5# of thrust with the P-120 it flies my F-4 very well. Tommy Woods had a RAM 750 in his several years ago maxed at I believe 22# and his flew decent as well.

Trubine RPM measurment
Jake:
I have a digital tach that can read to 200,000 rpm.
It is made by TNC of Woodstock New,York.
I will mail you later this evening with more ordering info.
Using a black majic marker, I put a small line on the machined area just behind the compressor wheel nut.
you would then set the tach to read 1 "blade" per revolution.
Done.
I just checked my 3000 and it read 122,700 and the factory spec is 122,000.
