A Question for painters....
I am considering using an airbrush artists to do some customer work on my new plane. He only uses acrylic enamels. What type of paint (brand name and where I can get it) should I use on the cowl that will react well to the acrylic enamels in the airbrust. Also, what clear coat should I use?
TIA if the info

I think it really depends on what the cowl has been primed with, some paints WILL Not work together.
Its automotive paint, so, go wherever the body shops buy paint in your area and let those who know decide?
Good luck

A Question for painters....
Just my opinion....
Why not take the cowl with you to the automotive paint supply, some NAPPA, auto parts stores mix auto paint, they will be happy to assist you and see that youll need a more plyable material for the "flexable" cowl.
Automotive paints are usually expensive, however, the amount you need should be the min. which can be accurately mixed, I think one quart.
Hopefully someone else will chime in and be of more help than myself.
This probably worth what you paid for it.
Have a great day.

A Question for painters....
umm well i have been a painter for many years now.i think you should let the artist deside on the paint to use since he will be using a airbrush.once the paint he has applyed has cured . you could clear coat it with just about any automotive clear. the trick here is apply it in a thin coat .so turn down the fuild on the gun . if you are wanting to lay down base frist maybe you should ask him what brand he will be using .and go with that . i can tell you i use dupont .i paint 18wheelers and they have a lot of fibergalss.well good luck to you .you may won't to watch the fuel to i would hate for it to eat the paint off all your work nitro is strong.my 2c

A Question for painters....
I use PPG Concept urethane auto paint with #DCX 61 hardener for the base colors and I use Concept #DCU 2002 urethane clear for the top coat with the same hardener. I have had no bad reactions using this clear over Model Master enamel's or acrylics, but you may want to test the brand that your AB artist is using. Your airbrush guy should have no problem spraying a sample of the material that he uses on a piece of scrap for you so you can test your intended clear on it. PPG Concept is sold in pints (approx $21.00 pint). Hope this helps.

GREG HAS A SYSTEM AT HE HAS TESTED I WOULD GO WITH THAT. I HAVE NEVER FOUND PPG TO BE USER FRIENDLY BUT I LIKE THE IEDAL OF THE SYSTEM HE IS USEING . BECAUSE HE IS USING THE SAME HARDNER . IT SOUNDS GOOD TO ME .I WOULD GO WITH IT .
