please help noob

Default please help noob

i got an rc car off ebay that im havin problems with. when runnin it to the batteries end it start to smoke. i opend it up and found a large resistor burned up in there and it runs off a 10v 1100ma lead acid battery. im thinkin the voltage it too hight for the car and the resistor burned up. the selled said he would replace any part for me for free, besides the resistor is there anything else i need, or does anyone know hove i could fix this?

does the car have a circuit board or hobby-class electronics in it??

its a small circuit board, looks easy enough to work with

He'll probably just replace the entire board. It is possible, however unlikely, that the resistor was defective. Usually the problem is elsewhere on the board, causing a resistor to open up. Is the failed component a large, white block? Check for a poor solder connection, as this could cause excessive current.

to do that you would have to put a new hobby-class reciever, and servo in it.
