Default CG on Carden 232 35%

I would like to know the cg on my cap. It's setup real tailheavy now. Would like to have some idea where they recommend to start with. I bought the plane already built so I don't have any paperwork. Thanks

Default Cap CG

I have my CG set at the front of the tube. Great for dead stick landings

The starting recommendation is at the front of the tube.

The plans call for 8" back from leading edge next to fuse. That is on some of his first kits. The newer ones may be different? The 35% cap 232 That is.

Default CG on Carden 232 35%

RE: Carden's early 35% CAPs. I have a Brison 100cc twin in mine and although it doesn't seem to be too tail heavy,(no super sensitive elevator), it requires a load of down trip to fly level. I am going to put in a heavier engine (ZDZ 120) and re test it to see if I can get some improvement. I called Carden and I have the plane balanced where they call for. I have heard the same complaint from other owners. If anyone knows the answer to this delemma, let me know here on RC Universe. Thanks, NSSHERLOCK

Default Down trim on cap

My CAP also flew with down trim. But I had A mid air with A 40 size plane and took out my left stab and ele. I got it down but it was tense. Anyway what I'm getting at is when my friend and i rebuilt the stab we put 3/4 deg. of pos. in the stab just because of the down trim. It made A big difference in the up & down lines and the plane flew great. You might wont to try shimming the motor up are down till you get what you wont.

To J.Avant, RE: Carden trim. I already tried a change in down trip on the engine, which did 2 things. 1. made the spinner look funny related to the cowl opening. 2. Changed the amount of down trim needed, lessining the amount, but nowhere near taking all the down trim out. When I have changed the engine, I will make another post telling what the results were. Thanks for your comment. I think Dennis changed something with the newer Cap design as I have heard they fly OK. NSSHERLOCK
