DIY Hanging Balancer Plans?
I borrowed a homemade giant scale balancer, from a out of state friend, a few years ago and now I need one for myself. I only have this one pic from balancing my Pitts 12. It was pretty slick and worked very well on a giant scale aircraft around 40 pounds. It had a metal bar with rope and several pulleys. You attached it at the tail and prop shaft, hoisted it up. Then leveled the fuse on the thrust line with a small bubble level taped to the fuse. The small plumb bob would point right on the CG. It also worked very well on lateral balancing.
i guess I could wing it from this pic, but many areas I'm not sure. Any suggestions of where I can find building directions for something like this?

Hang from an eye bolt or? Drop a second weighted line from the eye bolt, level the model and note the weighted lines position relative the wing chord. You'll have to adjust the weighted line to the proper length to indicate the models present CG, a plumb bob works great.

Kregg,
I sent you ([email protected]) a PDF of a version I made and use.... I can't take credit for the design, but it does work well.
Regards,
Bart

Here is a link to a fantastic machine: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_70.../tm.htm#708060
It works very well and is cheap to make.
Sounds just like what you used.
