Krusty,

I disagree, I've read your post's and I must say that I agree with what you say a majority of the time. I think a lot pf people respect your opinion and want to hear your advice.

It just seems to me that people don't want to be bagged on or dogged just because you disagree with what somebody says or because their terminology was imperfect. If you've already answered a question somewhere along the line and somebody else comes up with a similar answer it's no big deal. It doesn't mean that it's official because it came from someone other than you. Maybe the guy didn't read back far enough or whatever. Don't take it personally.

One thing I'd like to clear up though, I am new to this forum however I'm not what you'd call a newbie. I've been at it sine my first Tamiya Blackfoot about 13 years ago.

I can't speak for everybody else, but I believe there are many people out there that can benefit from your help (myself included). Let's just keep it friendly and remember that were all here because we love to talk about R/C.

Dagass,
To eliminate your double posting, go to the one you don't want by using the "EDIT" button. When you are there (the post) just delete everything you wrote and replace it with "please delete". The moderators will easily see it and eliminate the "double".

Krusty,

Thanks for the help! Any opinions on the Fantom Racing .15 motors?

I assume you have an HPI NMT. I don't know about the Fantom. The Fantom seems to be "too good to be true". None of those that I race with have them. If the price is right, you may be willing to take a chance. I do know about the OS CV-R. Have you considered one of these? I have a .12. A .15 is also available. They both come with pullstart (X designation) or without. The CV-R in an RC10 will do wheelies on demand! It is also easy to tune and very user friendly.

Yes, I do have the HPI NMT. Great truck, unfortunately not too many opportunities to race against competitively.

Ive looked at the O.S. engines and what else needs to be said about them. They were at the top of the heap way back when I used to fly R/C planes and they still seem to be up there. It looks as if there is a lot more competition though for them now.

When you say "to good to be true" about the Fantom motor, what exactly are you referring to? Do you believe there are mis-representations being made about the effectiveness the new sleeve coatings or their horsepower claims?

Dagass,
Like I had said before, "I don't know too much about the Fantom .15." I did find this "review". It seems that this person also installed it into a NMT. Make you own judgement.

FANTOM .15-
Purchased this new engine at my LHS for right at $160. The NMT needed a new heartbeat so I figured that I would try out one of these engines in a can. I have 5 tanks thru it so far, still on break in settings. Its down right scary. This engine simply hauls. Its got enough horsepower to get the job started, and then the HIGH RPMs take over. 42K redline. 38K usuable. Hell most 15s redline at 38K.

Running the break in settings at half throttle up and down my street, this little engine is easily reaching the top speed of the previous engine that lived in my little car(Force 15). Its got a HUGE cooling head on it. Starts very nicely. Runs even better. Seems as tho it might be a little touchy on the needles, but other than that, it appears that this engine is well worth the bucks. You would do well to look at this engine the next time you are looking for a new heartbeat for your RC car/monster truck.

After fully breaking this engine in, and after at least a dozen tanks of fuel, I must say I am really impressed with the performance of this beast.

The speed and acceleration is outrageous. I'm running the HPI offset wheels, with the proline mashers. 11/52 gearing. Big Tube Header and a dynomite pipe. This engine is pulling the bead loose. Throttle response is very good.I keep the temps around 220 and its a speed demon. It takes a tune pretty well, and seems to hold it rather nicely.

The Slide carb boot, is something to watch tho. It can come loose during cleanup. Seems to stay put while running tho, but its come loose on me twice while cleaning the dirt off of the car.

Thats off-road. How do you think it would do on road? Probably just as good, if not, better. I've heard they are good, but it is good to get a nice review in like that. Thanks krusty.
