What is wild is that Advance Auto here in Henry County will sell it as follows.
3.2 oz => $1.29
8oz => $1.89
16oz => $2.49
Case of 16oz => $1.49 each.

Someone has some screwed up math!

I did a search for the Pennzoil Air Cooled 2 Stroke Oil and found it at the local Schucks for $1..29 for 32 oz. . That's about what I paid for a small 4 oz container of the same oil a few years ago. Gotta go. Heading down to Schucks.

Hi all, I run a RCS 215 at 32:1. I started useing Bel-Ray synti. and it was O.K but engine spit barrels out the exhaust, part of this was due to a new engine. After running about a half gallon thru the engine I changed from Bel-Ray to Mobile 1 2cycle and there was so much of a differance on how well the engine ran plus the oil residue was cut by about 85% and engine transitioned from idel to full power much much better.
So I guess my pint is if you are have some doubts about the oil you use try something elese you my have a good surprize like my self.

I have run a few different types of oil from 32:1 to 80:1 in the same engine (synthetic and non synthetic). Once I adjusted the needles I could not tell that the engine ran all that much different.

Hey Silver... what ratio are you running the Redline? I've been running it my Taurus 52 for over a year, but I just picked up a DA100 and I want to run them both with the same ratio. What should I use after the DA is broken in?

Thanks!

Just to keep from making anyone upset, go with a fairly standard ratio. Anywhere from 50-70 to 1 will work out fine. If it's hot, go with 50. If its cold or cool go with 70. As long as the bottom of the plane is showing some oil residue and a bit of discoloration then you're using enough oil. A plane that stays dry on the bottom is burning all the oil in the gas and not cleaning the engine at all. Nor will it be cooling as well as it should be. Pretty much the same with all the good two stroke oils. At least that's the way I see it.

Thanks! I guess I'll just stay with the ratio I have been using which is between your recommended, and is currently doing what you say it should be.

Does anybody have any experience or comments about using Klotz Modelube. I've only been flying gas engines for about 6 months, but I've always used Klotz in motorcyles and liked it, so now I'm using it in my planes. I have no real technical reason for using it, I just like the way it smells. The engines I'm using are a Zenoah G26 and a G62 converted by Ralph.

Anyone heard of Lucas 2-cycle oil? Semi-synthetic stuff. Low Ash - TCW3. Says clean burning "smokeless", Reduces carbon build up prevents piston burning, spark plug fouling, ring sticking, and corrosion caused by combustion residues.

Has instructions to mix up to 50-1. I may give this stuff a whirl.
