RE: real flight simulator
I just bought a used G2 also. It has the old 15 pin game port, a Radio Shack USB/gameport converter, and the Interlink Controller.
First thing to do is upgrade to the last G2 version - .723. You need the original CD serial number and for the seller to call Real Flight to clear that serial number. Then you can register yours and get the update free. After I did that, the sim loaded up just fine.
If you already have the last version and it still does not work, let me know. There may be something else I did that might help.
My computer does not even have a gameport, but the USB converter works just fine.

RE: real flight simulator
Realflight actually has some G2 tech forums on www.knifeedge.com
You might give that a shot too.

RE: real flight simulator
I had a similar problem with a Dave Brown simulator. I ended up buying a $40 sound card that had a 15pin gameport on it. Mine is called a Turtle Beach Riveria from Best Buy.

RE: real flight simulator
My G2 installation had a similar problem. One thing that seemed to fix it was
Open the RealFlight.ini file using notepad. Insert the following two lines after the [General] section
[Controller]
JoystickID=0
Save the file.
Run G2.
It seemed to work for me, but who knows??
Good luck,
Brian
