HELP!
Hi guys,
This is the first post I have ever done but have been a member of rcuniverse for quite some time now. I have just bought a 1/3 scale christen eagle from TopGun models(distributed by CML). Just wondering if anyone has had some experience with this model?
The instructions do not state any high or low rates for the control surfaces!!
I have trawled the net for any help but found nothing.

Well I have never owned one.. but have flown a couple.
I would say keep the el pretty reasonable... depending how you build it, they are often a bit on the heavy side so you will want a bit more low rate el. than normal just in case.
Best guess would be 15 degrees on low el. Ailerions are slightly weak so you can go up on them like 25 degrees.
Just use some expo until you get the feel for it and then dial down expo and up rates to a point you are comfortable with. If you have never flown one make sure you get it up to speed fully on the ground before you take off. It has a short moment so they are a bit squirrely.. just get some speed up and get the tail wheel off the ground.
Fly well just take your time and make sure your setup is down right.

Thought I had bought a "dud" aircraft because I couldn't find anything on the net. I was thinking about the Great Planes manual but thought I would mention it here first.
Do you think the 2" difference in wing span would effect performance?

Was looking to put a Thor 45cc petrol engine in it and also looking to put a smoke system in at a later date. It would be the first petrol engine I have ever used. I usually use glow.
It seems to be relatively cheap and economic to run.

The engine weight and power level will be fine. Adding a smoke system to a 1/3 Eagle will change the way it handles and lands dramatically due to increased wing loading. I flew the G/P Pitts on a 52cc gasser for quite some time. Adding a smoker to that one was a definate no go.
