Default Feda Mini Dragonfly Problems

Hi Everyone,

Firstly I am brand new to all this RC Stuff.
Bought the Feda Mini D/Fly with Zhen Hua PCM- 4CH TX

Some Questions I was hoping someone may be able to suggest some cures on. Every suggestion welcomed.

Model I have is with the single integrated board with 1 red LED.

Have not managed to get it to hover yet just fairly erratic skidding round the floor. It will takeoff with throttle but I can get it stable enough to risk going airbourne.

1) Tail ROTOR often goes round even with no throttle up only way to stop it is to trim it right off on the TX, is this normal?

2)What length should the antenna wire be and where is best to position it. Does it have to have 10cm dropping down which I read somewhere.

3) Occasionally I get erratic twitching from the two servos even with no input from TX even right after connecting battery and 6 sec warm up has finished.

4) Mine cane with the Zhen Hua PCM-4CH TX does anyone know if their is a manual or anything available for this or if it is a rebadged TX. Ihave swapped the throttle on mine to left stick which seems to make sense to have all cyclic controls on right stick. Anyone else tried this mod.

5) Blades seem to be balanced as it looks like one blade when rotating but what is best way to check main blade and also paddle blades?

Sorry if some of these questions seem obvious but like I said I am new to this and I could really do with as many pointers as I can get.

Thanks

You MUST make sure your rudder trim is zeroed every time you initialise the Heli. It should not spin with 0 throt.

Don't cut the antenna, it will bugger it. I coiled mine round a landing skid with no dangle.

3) Occasionally I get erratic twitching from the two servos even with no input from TX even right after connecting battery and 6 sec warm up has finished.

That should definately not happen. Make sure the board is not right next to the receiver.

The swap is the right thing to do.

I'd learn to fly her first before worrying too much about that. search for "blade balancing". Incidentally, you are talking about tracking, not balancing.

Good luck, take your time. It's fantastic when you get it in the air. Order spare main and tail rotors now, and a spare main and tail motor. The main morot WILL die after a week or two. Get a 280 sized motor with "real" brushes that you can replace. Mine cost £18 from a shop mail order. posted the details in another thread here.

Update: Motor: Zubehor Motor Permax 280BB

Thanks

Hi Dodgey,

Sorry for the late acknowledgement, I thought this forum let me know by mail when I had a reply.

Thanks for the advice thats a great help.
Have had it off the ground but it still erratic.

Even with full trim on the rudder the rotor still rotates with no throttle. Seems ok when you first switch on, but once youve had the rotor rotating once via the throttle up when you throttle down it still goes round.

I think the electrics are a bit suspect !

Sometimes the Aileron servo reverses itself, just have to power Tx off and on a couple of times and it rectifys itself.

I think I`ll go seperates due to above problems and the fact that theres no adjustments on the board for motor, rotor or gyro.

Once again thanks for the help I`ll keep persevering.

That sounds really wrong!!!

Not a bad idea

I just put in my 1200 Etech Li-pollys and get 20 minutes of flying!!!!

Brushless goes in tomorrow :-)

I'm using a Great Planes Triton. I have to charge batts for my Eco 8 and my TX and my Truck so this made sense.

It is an awesome charger for the money.

Honestly, with the HB my hands started to ache after 15 minutes!!
