Hey guys, I've been bashing an ofna & TE nitro a couple years now. I recently went electric and bought a VXL rustler. Anyhow, we decided to go down to mikes hobby shop near Dallas, and those guys have a two realy nice indoor tracks. These guys are running some top end cars and equipment. They only run electric at mikes, and we are looking into maybe competing. The problem is, I don't know much about the new electric cars. I have been doing allot of reading, and understand the basics. I was wandering if you guys could help me out getting a car race ready.
Here is what I have
New VXL Rustler + hyperion dc Eos 5i charger + team checkpoint balancer + (2) team checkpoint 5400 MaH 2c lipos + jr racing xs3 crystalless & high torque servos + lots of tools
Question
1) Can this car be competitive, if not what 10th scale offroad ST or buggy would get us in the mix.
If any of you guys race, I would realy appreciate any tips on getting started.

I wouldnt say the rustler is competitive its more a basher truck you say the rest of the guys are running top of the line? then unless your a great driver you aint got much of a chance tbh []
The vxl has the speed and power but the handling is more important for racing no good having bags of power but no handling they will leave you in the corners for sure.
Id see what the rest of the guys are running ask about see what they think is better on the track it will give you some ideal of what to get.
I know the Associated T4 is a great little ST

I would also recomend the T4 or xxx-t. If they are running some club racing you might get by with the rusty. Like tiger said Its a great lil basher, but if everyone is running some top stuff to get in the mix you might want to look into a purpse built racer. Also stop by there and chat with the racers there to find out some tips, like tires and what not they will be more than happy to help out im sure. Having all the running gear I would suggest going with a Factory Team roller and transfering you gear from the rusty to the new truck.
Good luck
