Need a E-Heli suggestion for my A123cells
Hi
I have 5 loose a123 2300mah cells lying around. I wanna know whats the best Heli that is good value for money, cheaper and the right size to accomodate A123s (either 3s,4s or 5s1p). Would prefer a RTF or a simple ARF. I am ok with helis. I have flown the blades.
(and whats a good forum for e-helis with a123?)
Pls suggest/advice in this area of helis w.r.t a123s.

You can use them in a 4s configuration on a trex 450 w/ scorpion ESC (as long as you have a separate BEC.)
The thing about the ESCs...
Most of them "can" allow a 4s configuration, however, they have a built-in BEC which WILL be blown out by that amount of voltage (14.4v). If you're going to fly a 4s A123 on a normal mini heli, make sure to get a separate BEC that can handle an input of 14.4volts.
For example, the Castle Creations Phoenix-45 ESC http://www.castlecreations.com/products/phoenix-45.html has a normal input up to 12.6v using the built in BEC, and up to 19.2v without using it (ie, removing the red wire from the servo lead and using a separate BEC.) Theoretically, you could use a 5s A123 pack on this ESC...but you'd still need a separate BEC with an input of that kind of voltage 18V (like this one. http://www.castlecreations.com/products/cc_bec.html that can handle up to 25v and has outputs from 4.8v to 9v)
As far as a forum, there really isn't a specific one as they are just batteries. I know folks with a normal 11.1v trex 450, and another with the 4s arrangement of A123. It's just another option for power.
