Boat turns right constantly
Hi my team pro turns right when i try to go straight (when i don't touch the steering)
I think it might be the water pick up causing drag because it's on that side.
My rudders are set straight... so it must be the water pick up that slightly sticks out.
I have this kind of pick up [link=http://9x4br.64n2f.servertrust.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=WP3035]http://9x4br.64n2f.servertrust.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=WP3035[/link]
What can i do to fix it???

RE: Boat turns right constantly
Hi Mike,
Not knowing what type of boat the Team Pro is, I think I can safely assume that what you're experiencing is the propwalk effect.
Every single prop driven boat is affected by it.
A few countermeasures are:
- having the leading edge of the rudder at the same distance from the transom as the prop (with a surface piercing drive).
- mounting the entire drivetrain off center (to the right, viewed from the rear)
- shifting the motormount off center, to the right
Having the waterpickup on the right surely doesn't help, can you shift it to the other side?
Do you have some pics of your set-up, or a link to the boat?
Regards, Jan.

Sharpen the prop and if your drive is in the centre then shim the strut or stinger with spacers so your prop is angled left slightly this will make her run straight just use washers it only needs to be one on each bolt on the right as your looking at it just slip them under the strut that should do it.best thing to do really is remove the strut and move it 1/4" to the right but thats more work.No need to mount the motor to the right thats why we use flexable drives .

First try a better prop looks dull,is it aluminium or just not sharpened and balanced?.Id buy a better sharp ballanced prop then try it,might run ok.if not shim the strut.

Hi Mike,
Like Mart said, see to the prop, a dull one generates much more propwalk than a shiny sharpened one with thinned blades.
If that doesn't help enough, trim the strut, as suggested.
Let us know how thins develop.

Also you can balance and sharpen them yourself theres plenty of info on that in the main boat forum. My advice though would be buy a really nice ballanced prop froma reputable source such as Chris Hoffman aka dasboata, hes great for advice and his props are the dogs wotsits .While your enjoying running that one you can try and work on the dull one and use the new one as a benchmark so you have an idea of just how thin sharp and balanced they really are.

Isharpen mine enough to cut paper. That prop you have looks like the standard 275 that WHH sells with every package and definately untouched....I have several of them.

Theres nothing wrong with that prop it just needs balancing and sharpening ,have a read up on how its done theres a sticky on the main boat forum. The 275 is one of the best all round props there is,just sharpen and balance it no need for it to cut paper thats not needed.Last thing you want is to cut yourself every time you go near it [:@].

Make sure you don't have more right tab in it than the left also. Only a 1/16" can make it pull. Get the prop good and sharp and everythingf will work better. Is the boat running dry enough and not plowing cause that can make a boat want to bow steer and it usually favors the right side.

My magnum with the same prop, prop walked pretty bad until I sharpened the prop. The leading edge of my prop came completely flat, not even an edge to it.

RE: Boat turns right constantly
Alright thank you soo much guys for the awesome comments!!!
Im going to mess around with my spare prop and hopefully make it sharp.
I think ill recheck the rudders and trim tabs to make sure they are adjusted right.
but once again thanks for the help i would have never known that a unsharpened prop can create so much prop walk!
